Central and Private.

Posted 01-Aug-2014
Pros: Central in Edinburgh. Rooms were clean and well appointed.
Cons: Nothing really.
Location: Central Edinburgh so very close to most tourist attractions. Also next to 2 great pubs, the Oxford and Cambridge. Cambridge does the best burgers.
Simple quick check in, friendly staff. Kitchenette is well appointed and the supply of a couple of dishwasher tablets and washing machine tablets is great. The apartment is very comfortable and so you don't feel like you have to get out for the day if you want a quite day or evening in. Rooms on Young St can be a bit noisy if you open the windows, especially if your flat is on the ground floor, but really not too disturbing. Windows are soundproof when closed. I did have one of my curtains fall off the rail when I was there- the staff were genuinely concerned and it was attended to quickly. You can also leave your keys at reception when you go out if, like me, you have a propensity to lose them (£30 replacement charge) All in all well worth the money and a great location.

Nice hotel with the comforts of home

Posted 10-Jun-2014
Pros: In a good location in "New Town" in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was clean, comfortable, secure, modern, friendly staff & had a pub on each side of it.
Cons: If the apartment/condo could be better ventilated prior to next guest(s) check-in; and, if the temperature could be adjusted easier.
Location: Good location in "New Town"; within walking distance to Edinburgh Castle; Princes St. shopping & gardens; restaurants; Scott Monument; etc.
We stayed in apartment/condo #2 from Sat, May 31/2014 & checked-out early the morning of Tues, June 3/2014. The hotel was clean, secure & the staff were helpful & friendly. There is someone at the front desk 24 hours, so that was very helpful when we arrived in the evening after driving from Inverness, Scotland all afternoon/evening & also when we had an early check-out to get to the airport for our flight. The apartment/condo was clean, comfortable & modern; the only two negatives were: because it's an apartment/condo & you can cook, it had a very strong (almost over-powering) smell of curry for the first 2 days. The hotel was accommodating when we asked for some air spray, they brought us "Febreze" air freshener to eliminate the odors which seemed to help. This was not a big deal at all. The other negative was it was very warm in the apartment/condo & no matter how much we turned the heat down or, turned it right off & kept the windows open for part of the time it never seemed to cool-down. (We were on the 1st or main floor, so we were not comfortable leaving the windows open while we were out or, sleeping (as people could look right in.) Again, this is not a big deal.

Thank you for the review you have given to our Stewart apartments, it is always good to see that our guests are having such positive experiences with us. Having someone available 24 hours is important especially after a long drive, we are implementing solutions for when the apartments get too warm. We certainly look forward to welcoming you on future trips to Edinburgh. Best regards, Colin Mackay, Fountain Court team.

Great hotel in a great location

This apartment complex is located in a quiet street close to all of Edinburgh's attractions. The apartment was comfortable and really well equipped with top-notch furniture and equipment. Everything we could have needed was available in the apartment. All-in-all it is a really good hotel.

Nice apartment hotel, but not for WiFi!!

Posted 30-Dec-2013
Very nice amenities, especially kitchen and shower. If you need reliable WiFi, however, choose elsewhere as the policy is to ban dot com sites and all internet telephony sites (Skype, Face time, Google Talk). Not to mention, the internet was "down" two of the three nights we were there. To check in for our flights on the last day, we had to post up at a coffee shop. Also, if it is your first trip to Edinburgh, you will likely not want to stay this far North. Opt for Old Town, to eliminate a 20+minute windy walk each time you want to see a site. However, the River Leigh walk was convenient, as well as George Street shopping (really nice UK boutiques!) and fancy nightclubs. The room itself was very nice, spacious, warm, and well kept.

Dear M & M Thank you for your taking the time to leave your comments. I am sorry to hear that you had problems with our wifi. I can confirm that we do have restrictions in place to prevent streaming as this can slow down our wifi significantly. However, we are able to lift these restrictions if requested. Please do request this if at reception you visit us again. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay once again and I look forward to welcoming you back. Kind Regards Stephen

Minor points

Posted 23-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
Very good overall but slight lack of storage for clothes. Kitchen was well equipped but lacked the litte extras like a roll of paper kitchen towels and some paper napkins A shower which could be unhooked for hair washing would be a boon and there was no non slip mat in the bteh beneath the shower ( to be fair the bottom of the bath didnt seem as slippy as some I have stood in!)
