“Great value Central hotel”
I have stayed in other hotels in Ghent. I would recommend this one for the following reasons: The room rate is very reasonable, The staff are friendly, It's clean, It's located in the centre of town and it is easy walking distance to most of the the sites of interest, restaurants and the shops. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny (very cleverly designed) but, more than adequate for my needs. I had a very peaceful sleep every night I stayed there. A very quiet room - even the air con and plumbing only murmured quietly. I didn't sample the breakfast buffet, as the cost of 14 euros a day was prohibitive. There are plenty of great cafes nearby though - including a Mcdonalds! if that's your bag? Bring your own kettle as there are no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms.
“Overnight stop”
Securish parking for hotel just around corner and 15 euros for 24hrs, quiet hotel and room was very clean, no probs. 10 minute walk into the City Centre with the odd wonderful Chocolatier along the way to enjoy
“2 nights at IBIS”
The rooms are clean and modern, but small. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. I recommend this hotel.
“Fantastic little hotel”
Hotel was easy to find, with own secure underground parking. Situated 5 minutes walk from the city centre, plus on frame line 1 so easy to get to/from the train station. Typical Belgian bar in the hotel too
“Gent was great, but high cost of goods across the board takes the shien off things a little.”
Gent (at least in April) did seem to have a great number of tourists, which we liked. Nice feel to the city on the whole, pleasant friendly locals. For a cycling City, there was just one cycle hire shop, which indicates the amount of tourist activity. April 2010 - round of four drinks €15. Meal for four in cheap Italian €60. Fuel €1.5/Litre. Sorry but cost of goods does have an effect on what you are able to do and whether you enjoyed the value of it.

Area:
Ghent, Belgium: The heart and soul of Ghent is the picture-perfect, car-free Old Town. Tour boats ply the Lys River, with the medieval guild houses of Graslei and Korenlei streets casting their reflections upon the placid waters. St. Bavo's Cathedral houses the magnificent Lamb of God altarpiece, painted by the van Eyck brothers in the 1400s. The Gravensteen Castle, built in the 1100s, is another must-see.
