Adequate, but nothing special

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: The younger staff members seemed very keen.
Cons: The room could do with some tlc. Better heating in the room would have helped.
Location: Exeter museum (not open Monday) and Exeter Cathedral are both well worth a visit.
I was disappointed by my stay. The room was adequate but tired ( chipped paint, missed curtain ties and dust you could write your name in). The room was very cold and despite the heater the room never got above 17 degrees. Breakfast was pleasant but the staff did get my order wrong one day. The hotel is on a main road but it actually very quiet.

Very tired, needs a lot of TLC.

For the price with no breakfast it was rubbish. Main thing it had going for it was the location.

Welcoming hotel

Pros: The best was the very big comfortable bed, after a very long day of travel it was great.
Very nice, even whenI arrived pretty late the staff made me feel welcome. Gave me very useful information to make my experience great.

What a find!

Me and a friend stayed in one of these rooms - it was a lot bigger than we expected. Girl who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. The outside area is perfect for a drink :) What a lovely find! And a short walk into the centre

Very poor. Room was not ready. We didn't get a minutes sleep due to the noise next door and slamming of doors throughout the night. Poor poor poor. Thanks Craig

Lovely City pub/hotel

Very peaceful and comfortable stay. Right in the city centre but quiet. Multistorey Parking across the road was £20 for about 40 hours. Would stay here again.

Weekend at the City Hotel

Posted 16-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay at the City Gate Hotel. The hotel is nice, we had dinner at the pub the first night. The pub was busy and the people were very friendly and the beer garden was very cute! The day after we decided to have Breakfast at the hotel, it was fine but not exellent, we ordered 2 full English breakfast. I think it was quiet pricy expecially because with the same price you can eat a better breakfast somewhere else. The room was big with a king size bed but the bathroom was dirty with a lot of mould near the sink and quiet cold during the night.
