Very helpful staff

Posted 08-Dec-2014
We had a lovely overnight stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They looked after my luggage after I had checked out, so that I could wander around Exeter centre. The room was clean and quiet. There was a very good choice for breakfast and my full English was delicious.

Great location

Posted 30-Sep-2014
Pros: Great helpful staff, large comfortable clean rooms, good food and service.
Location: Very central to the centre of Exeter but also close to the train station. Convenient.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was only in town for one night and needed a handy reliable place to rest myself. The locale was warm and the beer and food allowed me to enjoy all of my meals in Exeter at the Hotel.

A enjoyable stay

Hotel is in a great central location for the night life and shops. With that comes a bit of late night noise if your room is at the front like mine. Saying that it was Freshers week for the University. Room was a good size with large bathroom and powerful shower. It did however require a bit of decoration maintenance. Down stairs there is a great bar and relaxing court yard garden. The place was well managed and I would stay again.

Convenient for City Centre

Posted 14-Sep-2014
We had an excellent one night stay in this hotel, en route to Cornwall. It was very convenient for an evening walk into the city, and the rooms were very comfortable. Staff were most helpful and accommodating.

I was really impressed with this hotel. The Staff was courteous and attentive. It is in the heart of Exeter within walking distance of may city features.

Great value for money

Posted 25-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
I choose to stay at the City Gate when ever I visit Exeter because it is central, clean, quiet and great value for money. The rooms are always clean and the beds are the comfiest I have slept in. The bar/reception staff always give a warm welcome and are friendly.

Hyvä sijainti

Posted 17-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Käynti oli miellyttävä. Hotelli sijaitsee keskustassa ostoskeskusten tuntumassa. Kävelymatkan päässä City Central (n. 1km) ja St. Davis (n. 2km) juna-asemalta. Tila huoneet. Hyvä aamiainen. Hinta kahden hengen huoneelta 170GBP (2 vrk) aamiainen mukaan luettuna. Auton voi parkkeerata yöksi veloituksetta (18:00 - 8:00) viereiselle parkkipaikalle.

cheap hotel in city centre

Posted 15-Aug-2014
Pros: Location? Price?
Cons: Cleanliness, decor and attention to detail.
Location: City centre. Lots to do.
I had read previous reviews so I wasn't expecting a lot really. The stairs leading from the pub were very grubby and the carpet had several stains on it. The room itself was fine - decor very tired though - chipped paint, what looked like grease marks on the the walls. The bathroom was servicable - mascara stains on the wall near the sink and the inside of the shower curtain not very clean. It also had a stale smell to it. There were old paper napkins left on the desk in the bedroom which was a bit gross. Bed was definately on the firm side but some people like that. As a cheap hotel I suppose it was fine, but I wouldn't want to spend any more than one night there. We didn't stay for breakfast so I can't comment on that.
