“would go back”
great hospitality, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that I didn't care for was that there was not an exhaust fan in the bathroom(peeew)lol.
“Rooms not for people in wheelchairs”
We had reserved a room that was handicap accessible but the room we were in, the bathroom was not for people in a wheelchair. The door was not wide enough to get the chair through, and the chair is not that wide. I had to get out of the chair to make it to the toilet, it was good that I only had less then 4ft to try and shuffle there. I was glad we were only staying over night because I would not have been able to get in the tub to take a shower. Other then that, the breakfast buffet was good, fully stocked. Valet parking was nice and the guys that helped us were great to!. I really liked the location, the people but unfortunately if they don't have a bathroom that I can get my wheelchair in I won't be returning.
“combative employees”
The staff was quick to argue about a issue with our room. The desk manager was not able to offer any type of resolution to the problem. She acted like she did not care.
“Perfectly comfortable hotel”
Other then requiring a valet to park ($20/day) the hotel was a good value and very comfortable. The internet worked well (except for the bothersome popup's from the hotel's ISP). The breakfast included in the room rate had many options and the City Grill in the building was convenient. The food from both wasnt anything special, but certainly met my needs as a business traveller. I will use them again if I return to detroit on business.
“Great Customer Service”
Hotel was very crowded because of Detroit Marathon. Housekeeping Svc was slow and inconsistent, however, staff was very accommodating and hot breakfast was good. Excellent location to downtown Detroit.
“Did the trick”
The location was good and walking distance from Comerica Park, not a lot of Resturants in the near two blocks or so, but it did the trick for what was needed for the weekend.
“Detroit Jazz Festival.”
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn express, for the Detroit Jazz Festival, for the past few years. The location is terrific, 5 min from the music. The breakfast is fine, the staff, friendly and helpful.
“downtown stay”
great hotel for downtown area. u can ride the people mover anywhere u want to go from this hotel.
“Too pricey, but nice enough”
This hotel was good, it was clean and the staff were VERY nice. We had to wait in line for appx. 20 minutes to check in because they were behind in cleaning the rooms from the previous night. Checking out was pretty much the same, we had to wait 10 minutes to check out, then another 15 minutes for the valet's to bring us our vehicle because there were so many people checking out. (I do have to say, thought, that the valet's were RUNNING to go get vehicles; they were working their tails off, and we were def. understanding that they were doing their best.) I think they just need more staff to handle check-in's, check-out's, and valet services during busy times.
“Centralized Location”
The hotel was in a great spot and centrally located in the heart of downtown. If you're ever going to Detroit for any main events in the downtown area, I would definately recommend this hotel. Everything is in walking distance!!! The only downfall was paying for valet parking, didn't like the extra charge. Although the fee was minimal for downtown parking I feel it should be included in the room rates. Other than that it was GREAT!!!
