This was the first time I've stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, and it was a positive experience. Our room (the Oak Park Suite) was spacious and comfortable, though the pillows on the bed were very flat. Parking was easy, the host/owner was hospitable, and it's an easy walk both to the Metra and to the shops of Oak Park.
Our hostess was so nice and our room was outstanding. If I had not seen the other guests I would have thought we were the only guests there. The public spaces are very nicely furnished and have that Home feeling. Everything is so nicely done!
The listing for this room was misleading. We discovered upon our arrival that it was on the third floor up very steep stairs. Also the pictures had shown a large screen TV and the actual was a 15” old screen. Charming but not up to the level of price we paid. Also the breakfast offered was ok but not great.

Hi Karla, thanks for staying with us :). We apologize for any confusion and will continue to work to improve our listing. We have reached out to Expedia to emphasize, as our site does, that the Oak Park room you reserved is on the third floor. With the high ceilings in the Inn (10’ vs. the more typical 8’) there are a lot of stairs! As is the case with most B&Bs and smaller Inns there is no elevator. The stairs are to code egress stairs and are 30 to 35 degrees vs. steeper stairs in the range of 50 to 70 degrees.) They are also quite wide with a good rail and a carpet runner for safety. The pictures of the room are of the actual TV in the room so I’m wondering if maybe you were looking at another room’s pictures? Our king rooms are not all the same as in many hotels and for those who want a larger TV and less stairs, both King rooms on the second floor would offer that. Regarding our ‘Grab and Go’ breakfast selections, we welcome feedback as to what additionally you would like to see offered for the breakfast. Due to COVID and licensing in Oak Park, we are quite restricted. Our focus is on offering high quality locally sourced items with a selection of coffee and tea (available any time), fresh squeezed juices, seasonal fruits, dairy, proteins choices and baked goods. Additionally, there are many breakfast restaurants that are close by for those wanting a broader selection. Thanks for your feedback.Kind regards.
The place is very well kept and a well thought out space that is very comforting and relaxing. Beth is amazing and very accomodating. I will definitely consider staying here again next time I visit Chicago.
Second time we’ve stayed here. Beautiful place, great hostess, beds were very comfortable. Great safe neighborhood where you can walk to dinner and shopping. Parking right in front. Can’t wait to return.
Such a beautiful and unique house that you feel at home in as soon as you walk through the doors. The owner has truly put her heart into this bed and breakfast and I can’t wait to stay here again! p.s. book through the Harvey house website, NOT through Expedia
Very warm and welcoming. Harvey House was a great homebase for exploring the Oak Park area and enjoy all the architectural gems. It was also close enough to Chicago to enjoy all it had to offer.
Beautiful, quiet & clean bed and breakfast. Comfortable suite with all the amenities. The breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay there again in the future!
I liked the owner, the house, breakfast and location. It is located close to downtown Oak Park as well as public transportation that will take you into downtown Chicago. My room was very nice.
The Harvey House was a lovely home conveniently located in Oak Park. Beth was very helpful and the facilities were perfect. The room was clean and comfortable, the house was well appointed and the garden was a delightful in the evening. It was nice to get away after covid. Great Greek, Latino and Asian resturants within walking distance. We enjoyed the Greek resturant near by. YUM!
Wonderful B&B! Nice selection of breakfast items. Comfortable room. Walking distance to restaurants. Close to Frank Lloyd Wright attractions. Really close to "L" station which would be a good alternative for going to downtown Chicago.
It is a beautiful BandB. The staff was friendly and the space was just an enjoyable and relaxing one to be in. Loved the bed, the tub, really all of it.
