I booked a double an something was wrong with the door. The keys weren't the issue. The door just would not open. Unfortunately, they had to move us to a KING which was an inconvenience because we had too many people for a King. I had to send my child over to one of my friends rooms that booked there as well. There was also ants in the air conditioner. I most likely wouldn't stay here again.

Broken clothes drawers in room. Ants every day in room. Room safe not useable due to exposed wires that get caught in door when closed. Staff is Uber friendly and nice.

I really didn't like much. It was inconvenient and difficult to find. It did appear to be freshly painted and the clerk at the desk said it was being renovated... well they have a long way to go. The room we had booked was small and oddly laid out so I didn't have much room to lay out suitcases but perhaps I should have paid more attention to description. However, we discovered the toilet was stopped up and since it was late there was no maintenance personnel to fix. The clerk offered a plunger, but sorry that's not my job. She did "clean" up the only other room available and put in fresh towels, made a bed. I give her credit for trying to be accommodating but she forgot to take the trash and food in the refrigerator. I soon learned why the room was available. First, the TV remote was not working (a minor issue) and I had to manually operate it but then I discovered that the carpet was wet in front of the air conditioner/heating unit and the window left open to help dry it (it was cold outside). The bracket holding the shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom was broken. The new clerk on the desk in the morning had no clue about what had happened the night before and made no indication that we could get some compensation for our trouble and/or some discount for the poor condition of the premises.

Front desk staff was great. Made friends with us and the kids and were happy to see each other all weekend. Breakfast was good. Room was clean. Pool was warm. Everyone we interacted with was very helpful and friendly.

Staff smoking right beside the sign that says no smoking on property, 1 of the rooms I killed 2 bugs, the ceiling was chipping in both rooms with what looked like mildew, their were stains on the couches and chairs

We had stayed at the same hotel chain in Outerbanks for Thanksgiving, and it was great, so without giving much thought, decided on choosing Holiday Inn Express. However, although it was Christmas Eve day, we arrived at almost 2 but were made to wait until 3 for the check in. I understand that’s the check in time but sometimes if they have the room they would just check us in. They gave us a room which was filthy, with both live and dead bugs in it, visible ones and a whole bunch. We took a picture and showed it at the front desk, they moved us to another room immediately. In the second room, the toilet paper was half way gone and the bathroom light barely lit. We told this to the receptionist because we couldn’t see a thing and we also needed more paper, they changed us to another room again. The last room had the same amount of toilet paper but at least had a better light. The staff was nice but didn’t do much other than move sus around to help. It wasn’t a nice experience. We were going to stay for three night but two were more than enough. Now we are waiting for the reimbursement of the third night, hopefully it will be done on the time promised.

Good experience
The bed covers was very hard to get under so that I could get comfortable. And the blinds over the windows were very hard to close. Other than that everything else was great and the breakfast was at the top of the chart.

Bad. Condition of property is poor, especially sink and tub plumbing. Tub not clean. No stopper in sink. Shower valve didn't hold a position, literally moving itself to a too hot setting repeatedly. Refrigerator froze solid everything we put in it, even though it didn't have a freezing compartment. Oddly, the breakfast was very good.

We stayed in Gastonia because we were there to go to McAddenville for the lights - we were close enough (10 min) yet far away enough not to have to deal with the traffic - we stayed here because of the free breakfast, we figured we would spend more than $15 on breakfast anyway - the food was good - the hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly - would most definitely stay here again

Staff was very friendly. Hotel had been remodled but is still run down. Window in our room had a privacy shade but you couldn't close the outer drape to block out the lights. Very annoying if you like a dark room to sleep in. In my opinion it is not up to Holiday Inn standards that we usually have good luck with.

Excellent value. “Newish”, clean hotel. Spacious room, great desk, comfortable bed, quiet, satisfying hot breakfast. Stayed here a few times on business. Outstanding value and definitely several notches above nearby hotels for not much less money.

Carpet in hallway needed vacuuming; was a bit noisy due to interstate noise. Nice breakfast. Spacious room, comfortable bedding. Recommend a dim light in the bathroom

The hotel is okay, but the drywall under the window could definitely be replaced, the shower could use an update, and the trash outside could be cleaned up. Overall though minus the other guests, my stay was okay. The staff was fantastic, friendly, and accommodating.

Expect better from Holiday Inn
Not the quality I expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Staff was friendly, but that's the only positive. The entire hotel was shabby. It needs a complete remodel. I would have expected Holiday Inn to require minimum standards of upkeep from franchisees. There was water damage below the window, above the air conditioner unit. (That worked well.) The carpets throughout the hotel were old and dingy with ground in dirt. The toilet required multiple flushes and leaked. The shower head sprayed in all directions and the shower floor was also dingy.

Location was great for what i needed. Service was average, when i needed something i was able to get it. However they couldn't be bothered to make fresh coffee or even service the room. I ended up using the dnd and just got my own towels each night. Carpet could use a good scrubbing and lots of stains on bedding, though you could tell it had been washed so that's good. Only time i was greeted was by the night clerks, no one else said hello or even offered a smile. For me traveling is not just about a bed but about the experience and i just felt like it was lacking.

We needed a hotel room after a late flight into Charlotte, before driving home the next day. The beds were quite comfortable, the staff was lovely, and the breakfast exceeded expectations. The room was just generally run down and in bad shape (besides the beds), and our room always smelled a little like smoke, even though it’s a non smoking hotel.
