“Stay next door at the Sleep Inn for a newer hotel.”

For the price this hotel was a real disappointment. - 2 thin sheets - terrible tv that you have to unplug the cable box and re plug in to get to work. I plugged in the wrong jack which i did not realize until the next day and had no TV at night which was very disappointing. - when I was trying to fix the TV I was greeted by a baby cock roach -more of a motel than hotel only positive is 5 minute drive to downtown Charleston. will not stay here again.

“VERY pleasantly surprised”

We spent a week in Charleston, Savannah and the Georgia Islands. Since we were flying back out of Charleston at the end of the trip, we just wanted an inexpensive, clean hotel to stay in the last night. Wow, I was impressed. It's a Best Western, not a fancy hotel, but you get A LOT for your money. The room was nice, comfortable and clean; the woman at the front desk was super nice; we had free wifi, free breakfast, free HBO; the room came with 2 sinks (one inside the bathroom, one just outside it); there was a blow dryer and iron/ironing board; and a pretty extensive free breakfast. I'm really glad we stayed here and would recommend the motel without reservations.

“Too Far outside Charleston”

The rest of the hotel was fine, but my room was very musty smelling. It was too late to complain once I checked in and then I was too lazy to switch rooms. I wasn't in the room very much anyway, Charleston has too much to offer. The hotel is a 10 minute drive into the historic district and once there, parking is expensive. A shuttle would have been nice.

Area recommendations

Mount Pleasant, nice restaurants. Isle of Palms, nice beaches, if you can get to them. Must park in designated spots, with 2 hour max. Historic Charleston, parking is expensive, look for lots as opposed to garages. Carriage ride was helpful to get oriented.

“Great overnight stay”

The hotel was very reasonably priced, located in a great spot (not too far from downtown Charleston and about 20 mins from Folly Beach.) The room was nice, clean, comfortable, and we were very impressed by the large and very well kept pool. They even offer pool towels and pool toys. We had no issues with noise and got a good, quiet nights rest. The continental breakfast was good, and overall we were pleased.

“Nice, clean, well managed motel.”

I would put this hotel at the top of the list of hotels in this price range. It was not elegant but it was certainly fine for our needs. It was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would go back there if the need should arise. It is not too far from downtown Charleston.

Area recommendations

This hotel is west of the city and in an area with lots of businesses, restaurants, ice cream places and general shopping. It is west of the city and I would recommend this area if you are not going to be trying to park and shop in downtown Charleston. It is 3 miles west/south of the Ashley River.

We went there for a wedding that was at a chapel in the Medical College of Charleston. The VA hospital is also close by.

“Excellent Customer Service.”

The staff at Best Western Sawgrass was excellent. The convenience of the location was excellent, especially for the price. If you are looking to stay in Charleston for only a few days I would definitely recommend this place.
