Central convenient hotel

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: spacious room, extremely comfy bed, fairly quiet for a city hotel, not overheated. Staff friendly
Cons: Soap dispenser empty, room a bit gloomy. I arrived hungry at about 10 pm and no food in the bar.
Location: near Cardiff Arms park and castle
Grand hotel, but looking a little bit shabby in places

Convenient to Millenium Stadium, but disappointing

Posted 25-Feb-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Needs full refurbishment.
Location: Close to Millenium Stadium, Cardiff Arms Park and the Centre of Cardiff.
We stayed three nights here. The overall impression is of an old hotel in need of refurbishment. Our room had flaking paintwork and had not been cleaned behind the bed for some time. The bed itself was missing a castor so listed to one side and the fabric was dirty. The windows in the bathroom would not open and there was no other ventilation to air it. Breakfast was good but the restaurant is badly laid out so that there are always people or staff passing your table which ever table you sit at. Not relaxing first thing in the morning. Reception was understaffed on Sunday morning for check out.

Would stay again

Posted 02-Feb-2015
Very friendly and efficient reception staff. Public areas, bar etc nicely presented and informal. Room was clean, bed very comfy but decor tired and a bit confused. We paid an offer price and were happy with the hotel overall, especially the location.

Good, central position.

Posted 20-Dec-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, warm rooms, comfortable beds, good - if expensive - breakfasts.
Cons: Misleading information on website. Entrance to hotel difficult. Entrance/exit to car park + width of parking bays.
Location: Cardiff Castle, open top bus tours, shops and good choice of restaurants.
We had a good stay here and the hotel was warm and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were plentiful but expensive at £12,95 - no discount offered for residents. Car parking entrance/exit was unsatisfactory and sign on machine at entrance was out of date, causing confusion. No toiletries in room, only soap dispensers! Overall good but these issues need to be addressed.

Hotel close to The Royal Welsh Music College

Posted 13-Dec-2014
Pros: It was within easy walking distance of The Royal Welsh Music College. The bed was very comfortable and room was warm.
Cons: I liked the hotel but feel the room I had needs to be redecorated. Flaking paint, chipped woodwork and cracks in the ceiling etc.
Location: The visit to Cardiff was not for pleasure so didn't experience the location and things to do near by.
Spent less then 12 hours at the hotel so didn't have an opportunity to experience the facilities

I paid too much

Posted 25-Nov-2014
Price increase because of international rugby much. Room way too hot could not turn air on on or heating off. Paid to much for a basic room. Will not stay again.

Plesant hotel in the centre of cardiff

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: Reception, architecture and the shower
Cons: Furnishings and breakfast
Location: Perfect for the millenium stadium and lovely view of the castle - close to city centre and the water bus to Cardiff Bay
Booking a room on a rugby international weekend was always going to be interesting but the staff were very helpful and check in very efficient. Hotel is a faded beauty - you can see what it would have been in it's prime but has a tired feel. The room was pleasant but again the frayed carpet and carpet grip catching your feet - tired. The shower was good - plenty of pressure and hot water. Breakfast was buffet style - not particularly high quality and the toasting machine slow.
