Very Disappointed particularly Parking Arrangement

Posted 17-May-2015
Pros: Nothing except on my complaint, the Hotel Manager was very polite and stated he would give me a good rate on my next visit ! Would I go there again ??
Cons: Night staff should be properly trained to be courteous and helpful to the guests and be polite.
Location: Fairly good town centre location
Very Disappointed with night staff. When I checked in I paid the hotel £18 for 24 hour Parking. I then went out for my daughter's Birthday celebration a and came back well after midnight and there were no parking spaces in the car park. I parked on double yellow line within the car park but not obstructing anybody but I was told by the night staff that I would get a £100 ticket if I parked there. He said there was no other parking around the hotel. I just didn't know what to do so I requested refund of all the charges paid and that I would then have to go to another hotel. Only then the attendant came into the car park and accepted that it may be okay but he wouldn't guarantee that I would not be get a £100 penalty. What an awful experience at that time of the night. The attendant was not only uncooperative and unhelpful but verging on to being quite rude. In the first place there is no area to stop anywhere near the reception to check in but even the car park is not properly sign posted with the Hotel name, and the only way to the reception is through the car park. This is probably the worst experience I have had at a hotel in my life. 4* ??? No proper health club. Facities so so.

Disappointing.

Posted 11-May-2015
Pros: Location, View, breakfast
Cons: Room standard, redecorating, explain guarantee on arrival, cleaning, price
Location: shopping, bay, city centre, loads of places to eat, castle.
I will say there are a few positives to this hotel, The location is perfect, bed was very comfy and the view from the room was amazing. However, i paid for a suite and organised items to be left in the room as it was booked for my partners birthday, which they did with no issue, the room itself was awful, there were stains in the carpet, hole in bed sheet, door handle to the bathroom hanging off, scratch in the door, dust in the corner and the room wasn't as pictured online with the bedroom area been dark with no window overlooking the view. I don't like to be one to moan but the longer i stayed in this room the worse it was. On check out i explained these points the the lady on the desk, to which i was told nothing could be done i should of said when finding the room in a mess as they have a guarantee and could of moved us, however i didn't want to ruin my partners birthday by complaining asking for the room to be moved and this wasn't explained to us on arrival. What i found more annoying and topped this whole thing of is the lady on the desk agreed with me that the room was not up to standard and needs something doing with it. Now why on earth after paying a large amount of money for the room, knowing it was for a special occasion, give us a room that they themselves know needs sorting out???? i am gutted and very upset this holiday wasn't as perfect as i wanted it to be for my partner. I would not recommend paying for the suite it is a waste of money.

Good city centre location

Posted 10-May-2015
Pros: modern, clean, location
Cons: nicer service at reception
Location: city centre, opposite John Lewis. Plenty of places to eat out.
Totally impersonal, though efficient, service. Stock, standard, modern, you-know-what-to-expect kind of hotel. Best thing is the location for a city break or business.

GREAT HOTEL FOR CITY CENTRE EXPERIENCE

Posted 19-Apr-2015
Pros: Rooms
Cons: Bar Prices!
Great modern hotel, beautiful rooms and if you get a high one then you get a fantastic view of the City. Breakfast was fine, standard hotel buffet. The hotel is immaculate.. there is one thing that lets it down and that is their bar prices.....£11.30 for a large Pinot Grigo is stupid...all it made me do was drink elsewhere rather than if it had been reasonable I would have stayed more in the hotel bar.

Overnight city stay

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Came here for one nights stay to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday in a venue in city centre. This hotel is very central. Great customer service. After saying what my reason was for staying here the lady immediately said they could arrange for a surprise to be put in our room to acknowledge his birthday. We had a lovely platter generously decorated with fruit and small fresh cakes. easy check in and check out. Excellent breakfast. Very good city hotel.

Excellent night stay, great room on 10th floor, really quite. Takes 30 seconds to walk to John Lewis and 30 more to nearest pubs and restaurants. Fabulous !!
