Ideal for a night out

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: More seating in bar especially with Christmas parties going on.
Location: Ideal for shopping, concerts and site seeing
Impressed with secure parking. Had a disabled room which didn't quite suit us. The wet room was a bit hospital spec which is great if you need it but we are both able bodied so would have preferred a bath. Wine a bit pricey a glass better by the bottle. Ideal for going to the motorpoint arena. Breakfast was good.

City Centre Hotel

Posted 14-Dec-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff attitude
We used the hotel for two nights, to see a show and do some Xmas shopping, check in was a but of a ruck with lots of guests and not enough staff, we asked for the safe in our room to be fixed, it was not. We visited the bar for a "night cap" after the show, a young barman twice ignored me and served other customers who arrived after we did, the manager eventually served us after realising my frustration, and did not charge us for the drinks. Overall it was what it was, I will not use it again

Great Hotel

Posted 10-Dec-2014
Pros: Location Comfortable bed lovely spacious bathroom
Cons: A small gripe was that we decided to have a nightcap in the hotel bar. They had run out of almost everything we asked for inc draught beer & lemonade
Location: Opposite the main shopping area and resturants. Walking distance to Motorpoint arena
Perfect hotel for our trip to Cardiff, close to the shops and the Motorpoint Arena which was the reason for our stay. Staff were helpful and friendly. Limited parking at the hotel but we parked easily at the nearby John Lewis car park. Rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. I would certainly stay there again if I need to visit Cardiff.

city centre hotel

Posted 01-Dec-2014
Pros: location,Staff,breakfast.
Cons: Lifts and bar prices
Location: Location is excellent close to shopping, Millennium stadium, castle museum etc.etc.
Location cannot be bettered.rooms clean bathrooms good, plumbing fine. Lifts awful-- not enough of them and very slow. The bar is expensive but no more so than other city centre hotels.

Convenient city centre hotel

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Pros: Generally of good quality; friendly & efficient staff; good breakfast and a feature not in many hotels these days was good room lighting
Cons: Parking too pricey @ £15pday; we used NCP @ £6. Only 2 lifts, inadequate with 21 storeys & most inconvenient for guests & cleaning staff in mornings
Location: St David's malls & speciality arcade shopping; concerts St David's Hall and Metronet Centre; Millenium Stadium, pubs/restaurants; Castle & park walks
We were in Cardiff for Millenium Stadium rugby, a concert at St David's Hall and incidental shopping. As the hotel is across the road from the main shopping area and within 5/10 minutes of almost everything else in central Cardiff, including St David's Hall, the Castle, Bute park and the Millenium Stadium, this was an excellent choice for us. Hotel amenities are good with rooms of good size and comfort and the breakfast, while pricey, at £9.50, was a comprehensive buffet which kept us going well into the afternoon. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only real niggle were the lifts - why an architect considers 2 lifts, without a service lift adequate for a 21 storey hotel, goodness knows - it meant a long wait at breakfast time, not only for guests but also for the poor cleaning staff - we saw 4 cleaning trolleys backed up on one floor when the doors opened on one occasion! As the rugby was on a saturday and concert monday, we had plenty of need for other things to do and to my surprise (I lived in Cardiff in the 1970's) we kept busy without using any transport. A walk around the Civic Centre and Bute Park took care of a good few hours and the shopping is interesting with the mix of all the high street regulars in the St David's Malls and the excellent speciality shops in the arcades. We patronised a good few bars, (good selection of light and open ones as well as traditional Cardiff old gloomy ones!) and had good meals at Giovanni's, Bill's and a new mexican, Wahaca.

Stayed while visiting to watch wales v Fiji

WS disappointed to find we had to pay £15 a night parking then to nd told no guarantee of spaces so was recommended not to move the car. Breakfast not so good , no English staff so not sure how they cook in their country but the eggs in whatever format undercooked,
