This is a truly remarkable property steeped in history We travelled 24 hrs by plane from Sydney to experience Canfranc Estacion and its worth it Travelling up by train wasnt easy though the first part was by fast train Drive or get a taxi for the last bits The experience was on a par with the internal hotel at Machu Picchu or the Oeninsular in Hong Kong It’s a gem and when the train line through to France is completed in a year or two WE WILL BE BACK

We loved the hotel, brand new, beautiful, friendly staff. looks like a big hotel from the outside but has the cosy feel of a small hotel inside. I thought the price was pretty good value for the level of quality. The only things we didn't like were the pool charges - expensive at 20 euros a person, we prefer to have short sessions regularly (and the fact there isn't a morning infant session isn't ideal), and to us the cocktail bar felt a little lacking in ambience, it was a bit cold and the lights pretty bright - the main bar area was a nicer place to sit we thought The food was all excellent, but if your eating there everynight then there needs to be more rotation of dishes, we kind of felt like we'd done the menu by day 2. theres not much in walking distance otherwise I think we will be back in future, particularly when the children are old enough to do some proper walking in the area. thanks!

Border stopover
Absolutely beautiful hotel with an amazing history in a lovely Town. The restaurant was great and we had a lovely dinner on the first night. Nothing is included in the rate so there are a lot of extras like the pool and breakfast, something to consider when booking. I would definitely recommend for a stop between France and Spain.

Amazing hotel that falls short of its potential
This is a spectacular hotel in its location and in the building itself. The staff are outstanding - notably Valentina, the brilliant 'mixologist' in the library, and Monica in the restaurant - but there are signs that the management is unimaginative and certainly not customer-oriented. So the end-of-visit report is ‘Good but could be much better’. As prices increase, value for money needs to increase too. Most disappointing was the mad idea of charging €20 for using the swimming pool! I've stayed in world class hotels in most parts of the world and nowhere have I come across anything so inappropriate and alienating as that. There was a nasty taint of upsetting in other practices too. 'Milk the Guests' is not a good look. Other details of poor design or planning or execution are: - Lack of English (or French or German) TV - foolish for international guests. - Unreliable WiFi - definitely not appropriate for an isolated hotel in the modern age. - Breakfast buffet was good but menu choices were poor. - Impractical design of the bathroom had few flat surfaces. - The room had limited writing / working space.

Fabulous hotel
We traveled to the hotel by motorcycle. The greeting was mainly good. However we were asked the next morning if we staying at the hotel by staff. This is probably because we were wearing motorcycle clothing. The person then apologised for asking the question. But other than that everything was excellent.

Aus dem Lost Place eines riesigen Bahnhofs ist hier ein Traumhotel entstanden. Hoffentlich fahren auch bald die Züge wieder nach Frankreich. Leider waren aber sowohl die Bar, wo ich eigentlich Champions League schauen wollte, als auch das Schwimmbad am Abend für eine französische Privatveranstaltung reserviert, aber wenigstens hat der FC Bayern München gegen Paris Saint-Germain gewonnen.

Hotel espectacular, es la antigua estacion ferrocarril reformada, con un gusto exquisito. El trato del personal del hotel ha sido muy amable y profesional. Lo único que echo en falta es un parking cubierto para cuando nieva mucho.
