Well priced family hotel

Posted 20-May-2015
Pros: The included breakfast was a nice addition.
We enjoyed our stay here, although it's quite an old hotel. The rooms were clean, tidy and quiet.

Canberra visit

Posted 19-May-2015
Pros: The staff, reasonable sized room and carparking. A short drive distance from restaurants and local attractions.
Location: Kingston foreshore and shops. Good dining at both. Manuka for shops and dining. Most well known Canberra attractions within 10-15 mins drive
Hotel chosen at random but impressed from the time we arrived with the friendly staff and a welcoming cocktail. Alternative dining recommendations were a nice touch. Overall a good stay.

Average hotel

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Pros: Breakfast was good. Staffs were pleasant.
Cons: Room could use some upgrade. The balcony had cob-webs. The balcony could use a chair. The carpet was old and stained.
Location: The museums are nearby, the parliament house too. City center is about 15 minutes drive.
It is conveniently located. The staffs are friendly and pleasant. The room was very average for the price.

Nice budget hotel/motel

Posted 13-Apr-2015
Reception area is well-presented with nice hotel feel to it. However, once you step out of reception that's when it starts to feel like an old run-down motel. I think a bit of rendering or paint to modernise the old-looking bricks wouldn't hurt considering that they have done a bit of updating on the interior already. It would also help to put signs on where to park as well as arrows and 'give way' signs to direct traffic. The access ways towards the parking can only fit one car; thus, it is quite tricky to come in and out, especially during check in and check out times. We stayed in a family room- a bit cramped for 3 adults and 2 kids but at least the beds are clean, comfortable, and sufficient. The continental breakfast included in the hotel room price is already quite filling for me, but if you are one to prefer hot food (ie sausages, eggs) in the morning then go for the optional $6 upgrade to full buffet breakfast. It is not walking distance to restaurants and take away shops so I found it convenient to have the breakfast there before checking out at around 10 AM (hotel check out 11 AM). As I am not expecting to get luxury in a budget hotel, I found this one with adequate facilities, excellent staff, and good for overnight/weekend stays.

Pros: Price is reasonable.
Cons: Cleanliness on the surroundings.
Were happy with the staff very efficient. The buffet breakfast is good and the place is near the church considering its a Holy Week. Parking is terrible, no designated place for room occupants.Window glass full of cob webs.

Good for an overnight stay or a couple of days

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: Pleasant surroundings. Not far from Manuka and the City if you have a car but, not so great if you don't (there was a bus service passing outside)
Cons: Door closers! Sound travels in the building and the doors close with a clunk. Guests seemed to have a door slamming competition between 7am and 8am.
Location: Pleasant surroundings but not much to do unless you are in Canberra for a particular purpose, which we were.
Good, quick check in. Larger than average room in a quiet part of the place. Room had been renovated fairly recently but had a few quirks resulting from its past (e.g. walls a bit out of square so the shower screen and new tiling had to be fitted in awkwardly... but it worked O.K.). The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the decor attractive, and a writing desk if you need to do any work. Not much of an outlook to the building next door from the outside rooms, but rooms on the courtyard would have a garden outlook. We weren't after 5 star and got what we paid for (IMO good 4 star) Meals were good and reasonably priced. Take time choosing where you sit for breakfast if you don't want to get blinded as the sun or reflection from doors gets almost everyone in the morning.

A very good hotel

Posted 26-Feb-2015
I was very impressed with this place. While it has the standard motel layout, it feels like a hotel. The staff are exceptional, and you sense that this a well managed operation. Good restaurant on site, and while it is a way from Central Canberra, the bus stops outside.
