“Perfect location”

Very convenient. Very close to tourists attractions. Very nice hotel but the rooms are small (but the view is beautiful). Small gym with few machines.

“Excellent hotel close to town”

Trip to budapest was excellent, Sofitel is a luxurios hotel, though breakfast and drinks at the hotel bar were quite expensive.

Area recommendations

Definefly the baths, and a test of real hungarian food, City tour is the best way to get to know the attraction of Budapest Boat trip by night were romantic

“We will definitely return!”

This stunning hotel has impeccable service, with fantastic amenitites from the spa and restaurants to the toilettries. Budapest was a fantastic destination for a city-break and we would not have changed a single thing. Sofitel Chain Bridge is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in-- incredible value for money! We cannot wait to return again in the summer.

Area recommendations

Castle district/ Near chain bridge. Close to main sttractions, very easy to get around by walking and/or metro. Right on the Danube, perfect for evening walks along the river. 10 mins walk to the wonderful St Stephens church and Parliament.

When to go

Summer is meant to be beautiful. We went the first week of Novemeber and had fantastic clear blue skies, with bright sunshine. But wrap up warm as it is a cool 4 degrees C.

“Lovely room with a view”

We stayed at Sofitel Chain bridge for 3 nights and found the service to be excellent and the room very clean, comfortable and well serviced. The location was fantastic, right next door to the Four Seasons (which was a lot more expensive) and we had a river view which was stunning. Extras at the hotel (such as breakfast and wifi) are expensive, but we didn't need them - there are lots of places to eat nearby and a pub 2 mins away with free wifi! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, especially with the expedia deals.

Area recommendations

There is lots to see and do, both inside and outdoor. Tours of the Parliament are free for EU residents and it is worth doing - just go to the ticket office from 8am onwards on the day you want to go (dont forget photo ID to prove you are an EU resident) and they run at least 2 or 3 tours a day in English and more in other languages.

Dining

We thoroughly recommend Cafe Kor - a lovely bistro type restaurant serving traditional Hungarian food with other influences, reasonably priced and large portions. They also serve a variety of salads and veg which you don't find as standard with the traditional food.

“Spectacular views”

A top-floor room overlooking the Danube and Chain Bridge, not to mention the castle shimmering across the water. This is paradise, Budapest style. A room upgrade and access to the executive lounge were welcome bonuses. The majestic atrium provided interior vistas. This hotel upholds the high standards we've found at other Sofitel properties. The extra attention to detail and caring staff made us feel special. Highly recommended.

Anywhere along the Danube waterfront would be a good location.

“Exceptional hotel in an exceptional city!”

I cannot say enough about my wonderful experience at The Sofitel Budapest! From the moment I checked in, there was nothing more I could ask for. The entire hotel staff was so attentive and helpful. The room and my view of the Chain Bridge & surrounding area was simply amazing! There was a wide selection of local and international specialites at the breakfast buffet --- Anyone who left hungry had only themsleves to blame! The Concierge team provided me with superb service, as did the staff in the Executive Lounge. It made my business trip extra special and I truly felt like I was *coming home* each evening when I returned to the hotel. I can hardly wait to go back - I felt so comfortable and welcome and I cannot recommend this hotel to to the discerning traveler enough! Don't forget to stop in at their world-class Casino as well as the trendy Paris Budapest Cafe. the "who's who" of Budapest frequent these locales and it is truly an experience to mingle ...

Area recommendations

The Sofitel is situated in the "Pest" side of Budapest --- "Buda" is across the bridge. Tthere is also a fabulous pedestrian mall just around the corner of the hotel with superb shopping and a wide array of great restaurants. It is also a very safe area and I felt totally comfortable as a solo female traveler walking around in the ares, even at dusk. One word of advice, however --- Be very careful with local taxi drivers. Watch the meter carefully to see if it is on *high speed*. You can easily be charged double or triple the actual rate to get to your destination. Also be careful to watch the denominations of the bills you give to the taxi driver as it can be confusing with all the "zeros" if you are not paying close attention. This is another way they attempt to over-charge, by hoping you do not pay attention and then give you back a bill with "one less zero" at the end. This happened to me and I did not realize it until it was too late ... Nevertheless, this did not sour my opinion of Budapest --- I loved every minute there as well as at The Sofitel!

“Perfect walking distance”

Perfect walking distance to everything. Very accommodating. 21 Euros taxi from airport to hotel, 30 Euros taxi hotel to airport.
