Very nice family hotel.
Very nice hotel in short distance from old town. bus station 150 m from the hotel. Excellent breakfast. Somewhat oldish decoration but very clean and we loved it. The only downside is that it's located on a main road. They did give us a room facing the side but yet you could not open the window because of the noise.

The hotel was only a walking distance to the Budapest Congress Center. And not too far to the City Center. The staff were helpful, I have a good experience in the Hotel. The room was tidy, the bathroom was always clean. The bed was always fixed when we came back to the hotel. I can suggest to my friends to stay at Gold Hotel Budapest,

Good customer service, breakfast was ok but could do with more variety, clean however our room wasn't swept on one of the days as particles from the day before were still on the floor. Room and toilet are in good condition. Good location away from city noise but close enough to walk.

Dont stay there.
When reaching the hotel we found the room to be somewhat clean, could have been cleaner. There is a minibar, but you are not allowed to use it to put water in. There is not even a kettle in the room for coffee/ tea, let alone any means of heating up food. There's nowhere in the close area (10 minutes walk) to eat aside from a strip bar, and no grocery store. After a day we noticed water coming through the window. When a loud and drunken party came in to one of the floors (unluckily it was ours) the entire floor was awakened at 2AM and there were shouting and singing for over 30 minutes before it stopped. The closest bus/train stop is also 10 minutes walk, so you have to use taxis (or walk a lot). there's nothing to see in the vicinity, its an old residential part of the city. After 3 out of 10 days we decided to leave the place.

Please let me thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Budapest. Surly there are many misunderstandings, which we need to improve in our communication. The minibar can be used freely, there are no limitations at all. We do not have kettle in the rooms and we do not advertise it in our description. We have a kettle-table at the reception, which can be used 24 hrs, and free kettles can be requested at the reception at any time. There are 3 restaurants nereby, 1 to the left, 1 to the right and 1 up the hill, all of them 5-10 minutes walk. Grocery store is 5 minutes to the left, an Aldi 7 minutes walk and a big shopping mall (MOM) can be reached within 15 minutes. The windows must be closed in order to keep rain outside. According to our houserules, no noise can be made after 22.00 o'clock. It is important to report the noise at the reception and the receptionist has the skills to stop the troublemakers. The closest bus station is 100 meters to the right. The Citadel is 10 minutes walk, the Buda castle is 20 minutes, downtown Pest is 2 bustops, buses come every 10 minutes. Our reception is open 24 hrs and all receptionist are helpful and ready to answer questions and requests.We hope to welcome you again in Budapest.

Good area, close to the city Center, bus station just minutes away. Decent room, kinda small but clean. Unfortunately no breakfast, just yesterday’s croissant. Not necessarily cheap, but it was right before new year’s holiday so it’s justified.

A Gem
We spent a week in Budapest and our stay at the Gold Hotel made it delightful. The staff is friendly, helpful and very responsive to any needs.The hotel has been beautifully renovated. It does front a very busy Budapest thoroughfare, but the windows are surprisingly sound dampening. Breakfast was basic, but had a lot of choices. The location is close to bus transit, which is delightfully easy to use, as well as convenient. If you want an authentic stay, outside the touristy areas, this hotel is a real find.

Gold Hotel
Overall we well enjoyed our stay. Our only complaint is the mounting on the shower head which kept spraying to the shower door. Always fought not to let the bath floor get too wet. Still a nice hotel. The staff is very courteous. This was our second stay in two years. The walk to Buda castle is about 20 to 25 minutes. The Hop on Hop off bus goes to the Citadel which is near the hotel. Suggest buying a pass for the bus.

This was a small but very clean and tidy hotel with an exceptional front desk staff and a great breakfast. It’s walkable enough to get to the main part of Budapest I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Budapest The staff was very friendly and helpful

Great hotel and great location
Great hotel, great location, walking distance to all the Buda points of interest and the baths. Not many local restaurants but we had a really great meal at the Janos restaurant in Hotel Charles very close by. Very easy to get buses or taxi's if you're not up to walking. The only negative is that the road is very busy so there is some traffic noise in the rooms at the front of the hotel. Having the window open overnight is not an option. Reception staff were great and very friendly, even when we arrived at 1:30 am!

Saved our visit to Budapest
Hotel Gold Buda saved our visit to Budapest, after we were unable to check in to our originally booked inner city apartment. We stayed in a family suite, with two bedrooms and a kitchenette. The interior of the suite was very tidy, clean and comfortable. The manager and staff were exceptionally helpful. We found the location good, on the main road into downtown Budapest. It's a short (although hilly) walk of about 20 minutes to castle hill and the old town, which is the most interesting area for tourists. Breakfast was included, and was excellent, of the quality found at much more expensive hotels. The hotel has limited parking at 10 euros a night, which is less than we paid for parking everywhere else on our trip. On the weekends parking is free on the street. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, and recommend it for other families and other travelers looking for a good hotel at affordable rates.

Very bad 4 stars hotel in Budapest
The lobby is very dark and the lobby lights are automatically on when you walk in. It does not feel like a 4 stars hotel but price is cheap. There is nothing in the room like free coffee or water. Bathroom towel are very old and dirty. I would not stay at this hotel again. This is the worest hotel I have ever stayed and I travel around world. Compare to 4 stars hotel in Vienna, this is like a 1 star hotel.

Buda is great for sites
Situated next to a major trunk road, this hotel is remarkably quiet; walking into Pest at night though requires a long walk along a road with a lot of traffic. This hotel is clean and functional and is quite comfortable. Unfortunately our air con made lots of noise and barely reduced the temperature in our room; possibly the result of a very hot summer and heavy use. Beds were comfortable and we slept well, followed by an adequate breakfast with a wide range of breads, cold and hot meats, yogurt and fruit. Typical continental breakfast and certainly good enough. Coffee machine good and a range of teas. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and the restaurant staff tried their best. Overall worth visiting and staying at if focussing on Buda, visiting the Citadel and huge castle area. Negatives not mentioned are: 1. Pest is the place for food and entertainment - taxi or a longish walk along a busy road. 2. I resented being charged for two it's being taken from the mini-bar when l only had one. (didn't make a fuss) 3. There is no restaurant for evening meals or a bar. Not a major thing, but when the weather is not good and you are out of town....... WOULD WE STAY HERE AGAIN? Yes from me, no from my wife (simply based on location).

Check in was efficient considering it was 12.30 at night, the young man was very helpful and allowed us to buy a drink to take to our rooms which was much needed after the flight delays etc, breakfast was basic but enough of everything needed, the hotel was situated Buda side, a walk down the hill and you was at the bridge to base the start of your sight seeing. The day time reception staff was very informative as well and we built up a good relationship with both staff even though we were only there for two nights, would we go back, in a heart beat.

Problems with credit card payment
Everything else was very good about this hotel, except when we wanted to check out. They told already earlier that we should pay a city tax at check out. That's OK, but it turned out they will not accept credit card, only cash. On the last day of visiting the country, we did not have the full amount in local currency. Luckily, we had some euros also, otherwise this would have caused us a trip to an ATM, which was nowhere near the area. This brought our mood down, because a 4 star hotel not accepting a credit card for over 10 dollar payment -- not acceptable. Or it should be clearly stated this was exceptional for today etc. I wonder what would have happened if we had not paid for the hotel online prior to check in; only option would be cash also?

Short Break with Friend
Lovely hotel with easy access to Centre, only downside is there is nothing near by really in way of shops and restaurants due to being in a residential area. Although bus stops within a couple minutes walk which run nearly every 5 mins, missing peak traffic into Centre 5 Mins so not really a problem, also it is an easy walk as you follow road over bridge straight into Centre about 20/30 mins downhill. Breakfast was ok, not a lot of choice, same every day managed to find something to eat if you want Eggs and Bacon you will be disappointed it is more Hungarian based. Hotel was very comfortable nice big room facing the front, good heating and nice and quiet it might be different in the warmer season, but I would recommend the location very close to the Citadel.

Hotel nice but disappointed with the facility's .
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights . We arrived late on Monday night around 10 pm and found the restaurant was closed and there was no facility's for making a hot drink . During the week the weather was wet , cold and windy. After returning to the hotel early evening because of the weather, we asked for a hot drink but the night porter refused to provide one , but after some persuasion we managed to have one delivered to the room .

Good place to stay
We have stayed in the hotel in May of 20017. The one thing I can recommend that you ask for the room away from the traffic. The air conditioning is about as good as a fan and on summer days it gets hot. In May we could sleep with the windows open but only on opposite side of the main street. The breakfast is very good and overall we liked the hotel. Get a box of tissues yourself. The hotel doesn't provide it.

It was OK, hotel receptionist VERY RUDE Thursday evening 23/2/17. the larger chap. He begin to tell me that we could only stay if we gave him our house number. I explained our house had a name and he continued to argue. Rooms very noisy and all receptionists bar one who was working sat evening 25/2/17. Room was clean, breakfast was good just a shame about the staff.

Small friendly hotel offering value for money
Room was old but clean and comfortable. Good hearty breakfast. Good value for money as hotels on the Buda side are more expensive than ones on the Pest side in general. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. Was here for a conference at the congress center and this hotel provided much lower prices compared to the hotel at the congress center.

Great small hotel, a gem
Good restaurant for dinner attached to hotel which is where we had our breakfast with hot & cold breakfast items, including fruits, veggies, cold cuts, cheeses, variety of Breda and sweet pastry coffee, teas, espresso... the hotel is located in one of my favorite part of the city. A wonderful park is just 2 blocks away as well as a sport club with a track.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was further from the city centre than we thought it would be ...about a 20 minute walk and a bit longer on the way back as it was uphill.It is situated on a very busy road but when the windows are closed you cannot hear the traffic.

Botique Eco friendly hotel in Buda
Pleasant, convient hotel in Buda, 5 minute walk to the Citadel, bus stop out front to Pest, short trip across the bridge by bus. This hotel is a 6 minute walk through a beautiful neighborhood of old mansions to the Citadel. My room was new, clean with a flat screen TV with American CNN available, breakfast was included in a pleasant dining room in a small Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. The young woman at the front desk in the daytime was very pleasant and helpful in regards to giving me directions, bus numbers, ect. I would stay here again, hope to return with my young daughter and show her the beautiful and amazing city of Budapest !

Best hotel for a weekend in Budapest.
Gold Hotel is a hotel that I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Budapest. What we got for the price of the hotel was amazing. Free breakfast that had a lot of variety (more fruit would have been nice), lovely clean and luxurious bathroom - power shower. The beds were comfortable, I have slept in better, but have also slept in worse. Very friendly and welcoming staff throughout the hotel. Very pleased with our choice of accommodation.
