We had problems checking in, detailed in an earlier review. We were sent to an unmade room (Pictures below) and the manager was reluctant to move us, suggesting we wait for the room to be sorted. After waiting for about 30 minutes with no sign of a cleaner, we protested loudly to Reception and were finally given a key to the room one floor above. This was small, but adequate although as a non-smoking hotel, I would have preferred that the disgustingly full ashtray had been removed from pride of place outside the window! Strangely, there was a kettle and mugs, but no other tea or coffee making provisions and the mini-fridge contained an open and dried out pack of cheese slices. The downstairs bar, however, served great beer (not hard in Brussels!) The hotel is also very close to the old centre of the city and all of the Christmas markets.
Given that it was New Year's Eve, the room was reasonably quiet at night, So quiet, in fact that we overslept next morning and only just made the check out time. Luckily, the woman on duty made up for the attitude of the manager the previous day, and agreed to provide the breakfast we had paid for, even though it was well past the deadline. We were also able to leave our bags.
Despite the location, not sure that I would use this hotel again - first impressions count!
