“MIT SPLASH family”

Everything about this hotel was great except for two service-related situations. I booked the room on Expedia, and asked specifically for a double bed with roll-away because I was bringing my son and two daughters. When we arrived and went up to the room, it was a king and pull-out sofa. We went back down to the desk and were told that was all that was available. We went back up and found there was a leak in the bathroom. The manager came and moved us to the same room but higher up with a nicer view. All that worked out really well. Then, when we were leaving I left our luggage with one of the front desk people because the bell hop wasn't there. When I returned for it the guy seemed to disappear for 10 minutes as a line formed behind me. Eventually a valet came and managed the situation. All worked out fine. These two situations worked out fine, but caused stressful moments. Also, this was a more expensive hotel than the Residence Inn down the street (where we stayed last year) but it didn't offer a continental breakfast in the morning (great when you have a family!) Next year I will try to book earlier and probably go to the Residence Inn! But overall, this hotel really was very nice. Complicated!

“Great stay in Cambridge”

Stayed with a friend. Super clean rooms, comfortable beds and taxis right outside the main lobby. Overall we had a great stay. Would recommend to others.

“Would stay again”

Hotel was very nice and staff was wonderful. Starbucks in hotel was a big plus.

The whole area was awesome. Saw everything. Food was wonderful. Never disappointed.

Getting there

The T was great. You can get everywhere you want to be. Parking is so expensive, so using the T is the best option. Everywhere we ate was great. Never disappointed. I highly recommend Modern Pastries. The lobster tails were top notch!

“nice hotel good river view poor parking services”

Enjoyed the hotel. Had a nice room with a river view. The room was clean and the hotel convenient. The only negative was the lack of valet parking and guest parking discounts. That said I would stay again.

Area recommendations

I would recommend Boston--downton, inner harbor, Quincy Market, the North End as well as Cambridge both the Harvard end and MIT end. There're wonderful activities in Boston like the Sconce Museum, the Boston Commons, Quincy Market and a host of historical sites and tors. Cambridge has great used book stores and more funky shops. Both have great dinning from Irish pubs to Thai to seafood.

Family-friendly activities

If you have kids, don't miss TheScience Museum, The Children's Museum, or the Boston Commons. You can ride the famous swan boats or just chill out. OLDIronsides is fun for kids who are into old ships and Quincy Market is great, but I think best done earlier in the day before kids get over loaded.

“Hotel has some pros and cons.”

Hotel accommodated early check in and late check out. We didn't get the room that we booked (2 double beds). After arrival at the hotel, we was put into a room with a king bed and pull-out sofa (extremely uncomfortable). The hotel was booked solid so no other accommodations could be made. My advice is that you make sure you check with the hotel before you book with Expedia! Rooms are small, but buffet breakfast at this hotel is good.

“Great location; transit stop just outside hotel.”

Overall excellent. Room kinda small for two adults and two kids if staying a loong time but worked becasuse we only stayed two nights. We had a room with a pull out sofa and a double bed. Sofa was comfy; my husband slept on with no stiffness or aches the next day. Room with tub and toildet kinda small. Staff friendly and helpful. Room service very good (but avoid chicken fingers and pizza). Great view of Boston and Fenway. At night - you could see the lights! Great location with transit stop right outside of hotel.

“Very Satisfied”

Everything about the stay was perfect for us. An added bonus was the fourth of July fireworks right outside our window!

Cambridge. Convenient to downtown via subway, not as crowded, clean and with good restaurants.

Getting around

Public transportation is convenient and inexpensive with a 7 day "Charlie Card".
