“Very friendly staff!”
We were pleased with our choice of the hotel as we awaited the birth of our grandchild. The hotel staff was wonderful, caring, friendly, and supportive. The shuttles to and from Children's Hospital and airport were a real bonus as cabs are very expensive. Distance to the hospital was a little misleading, as we understood that it was within walking distance from the hotel, so we had to take a shuttle every time we went toand from the hospital. We enjoyed the great breakfast and light supper very much. The hotel is across the street from another hospital, so the sirens at all hours were annoying, but with earplugs we managed. One disappointment was that the shuttle to the airport didn't start early enough for us to take it at 3:00 in the morning. We would definitely stay at this hotel again if ever we return to Boston.
“Excellent service - nothing too much trouble, and even a free light dinner.”
We chose this hotel because it was near enough to Boston's North End and Back Bay areas, and yet it wasn't as expensive as hotels situated in those places. The hotel was very comfortable and had all the amenities one would want - wifi, gym, free use of computers and printers, breakfast included, taxis right outside the door. The staff at the front desk answered all our questions about how to get around and where to go. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast staff were very helpful, promptly refilling items that were finished. This is the first time I have been to a hotel which offers a free light dinner. Also, free coffee was available at all times in reception (as well as facilities in the rooms). Everyone was helpful - we didn't meet one bad member of staff.
“You get more than what you pay for, but...”
The hotel was just nice enough to be comfortable, which in my experience is atypical of the generally very pleasant Hampton Inns. The room was large and clean, but somehow the hotel manages to miss all the little things: no Ethernet connection to the internet despite a jack on the desk (and when I asked the front desk for a wireless adapter they said one would be delivered to my room, which never happened), the handle controlling the temperature of the shower would always rise to the hottest setting regardless of where you put it, no flat panel TV, no refrigerator, some of the lights didn't work, etc. Also, the hotel was a little too far south to be convenient for walking around the South End and to central Boston, and the amount of traffic around the Medical Center prohibited the Mass. Ave. bus from being timely. It's also about a mile from the nearest subway station. Furthermore, the area surrounding the hotel is not the nicest area to be in. So the price was right, the hotel was comfortable enough, but the stay was not at all remarkable or worth recommending.
“Great price, Great location”
innexpensive parking, easy cab rides to anywhere in the city, would go back
“No shuttles, long walk to T.”
The main reason we decided to stay at this hotel was the fact that they advertised shuttle service to local attractions. Since we were planning on visiting most of Boston's sites, this seemed perfect. Upon arrival, we found that the only shuttle service was to the medical center or the airport. On top of that, the nearest T stop is 3/4 of a mile from the hotel. This meant either a long walk at the start and end of each day, or waiting for the bus to take us up. Also, the hotel is located just one block from the BU Medical Center on a major intersection. From early morning to late evening, expect to hear traffic, honking, and regular police and ambulance sirens. For the most part, by 11 pm or so, it quiets down. In addition, don't count on eating at the hotel. The restaurant, Rudi's, has been closed for over a year (though the sign is still up and they still advertise it in the hotel literature). The hotel isn't all bad, though. The room was spacious and clean. The free breakfast in the morning always included 2 hot items, make-your-own waffles, cereals, coffee cake, muffins, toast, and various juices, milk, and coffee. Overall, the hotel would have been fine, except for the fact that most of what was advertised was not provided.
“not impressed”
At check in-- found out there was a high/ day parking charge. This information was not presented prior to check in. Went to room and there was gum stains. They did give us another room. Pool was dirty, and no hot tub. Location was sketchy, and not much near it. Would not recommend.
“Great Experience!”
From the shuttle driver to the hotel receptionist, the service was excellent! I came into the hotel after being on airplanes all day and the guest service representatives were helpful in recommending surrounding restaurants, offering the hotel shuttle that leaves every 1.5 hours, as well as providing me with take-out menus. My room was very clean- including the bathroom. The one thing I did not like was that my window was only covered by a sheer curtain- the heavy drapes are not designed to close so at night, I could see the cars and lights outside. However, I slept comfortably. A hot breakfast was provided. I was also able to keep my suitcase securely at the hotel while I went on an interview and I took the hotel the shuttle back to the airport, although I'd checked out hours before. Overall, I had a very good experience and would stay there again.
“Definitely would stay here again!”
I planned a vaca with my boyfriend to see John Pinette at the Wilbur Theater and this hotel was conveniently located close by. We stayed in a junior suite and the room was awesome! It was big, spacious and very clean. The cost was much cheaper than a lot of other hotels in the area. We did have a hard time trying to find somewhere nice to eat so we just ate at Rudy's and the food was decent. It might be better to travel more into the downtown area to find a better place to eat. All in all I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat!
