“Not 4 star but would stay again”
Some of the staff were cheerful and helpful but one or two were obviously tired and fed up with tourists. I wouldn't have called this a Four Star hotel based on the decor needing updating in common parts and some of the grumpy staff but rooms were clean and food was excellent.
“We nearly missed our flight home!”
Great stay in Berlin - good hotel, well situated a short train/underground ride from the main attractions, and an easy 40 minute journey from Schönefeld airport.. The only criticism I have is of the lack of appropriate information about the time it would take us to return there on a Saturday morning. I asked at reception the day before departure how long we should allow to returning to the airport the next day early (6-7am on a Saturday) , and was told 50 mins to 1hour would be fine. However, the receptionist failed to tell us that on a Saturday morning the direct SBahn from that area of Berlin doesn't run before 9am. After waiting 3/4 hour on a cold station, we eventually found out that we had to take a connection, but I think at a Holiday Inn staff should be able to give guests that sort of information. Having allowed plenty of time, we caught the plane, but it was stress we could have done without!
“Friendly and helpful staff, good location”
Full of praise for hotel staff; very friendly and helpful without exception. Very enjoyable breakfast and although not ultra modern, the hotel was in good condition. Room quiet and clean. Location superb for easy transfer to central Berlin and airport. Local area not glitzy, but not at all threatening. Superb holiday and I would recommend this hotel to families; we had a suite with 2 large rooms with interconnecting door. Very comfortable and although bathroom was small, it was fine. Staff very welcoming and although we turned up at 10.15pm and kitchen closed at 10.30 waiting staff took order and we enjoyed a pleasant meal. Very pleasant staff at breakfast.
“Good for plane spotters”
Noise is unbearable after 7.30am once the planes start flying from the airport almost next door!
“Not the best Holiday Inn”
Some staff were quite unfriendly and abrupt. Easy to get everywhere from here as it is close to the subway but not much to offer in the area. I chose this hotel based on ratings but it did not live up to expectations due mostly to location and staff.
“the loacation was not as convenient as I hoped as we were there to run in the Berlin Marathon”
The location was disappointing,however, the sauna facility was excellant and we wee pleased with it both before and after the run in marathon.Breakfast was excellant and the staff very willing to help.
“Was OK but definately get what you pay for”
The room was a smoking room which stunk of smoke, there were no other rooms available. The cost of breakfast 16euros is extortionate. Overall the location is not ideal, not a good choice of places to eat especially on a Sunday night. Close to the train and underground services though.
