“Berlin Generator Hostel”
Located next to train access. Breakfast same every morning- meats, cheeses, cereals, so plenty to choose from. Walls kind of thin- heard our neighbor snoring one night. In room showers small, but feel free to use the shower down the hall. The front desk staff are extremely helpful- (and in English for us which was greatly appreciated). Several walking tours begin with a guide picking us up right at the Generator Hostel and taking us by the trains to the group meeting points. We would stay here again. Economical.
“Basic but very good at it.”
This is a good hostel, with what you expect from one, basic bedrooms and breakfast. Limited food selection, but the chef was excellent. In fairness this is just nit-picking, but definatly worth visiting.
“Noisy”
Hostel is far from town although located right near tram and S Bahn stop's. Hostel Rooms average and noisy even during the week! Big tour groups stay here!
“Noisy, and not as convenient for the airport as it seems!”
Rooms were immaculate, very clean for a hostel, however walls are paper thin and occupants noisy on St Patricks Day! Beware, metro line to airport doesn't always run direct...
“It was nice to stay there”
It was my first experience with expedia and everything worked well.Planes ,check- in,hostel, rooms were the same as they offered and nothing delayed.Generator was a huge hostel near both tram and U-bahn and S-bahn station and it was very easy to go city center and back every hour of day and night.
“Ok”
The Hostel was quite hard to find. Once there the staff whern't overly friendly or informative. The room itself was tiny. We had a twin room with bathroom, we hardly had room to turn around and the shower/toilet was really tiny. On a good note, it was right on a train line so access to the city was easy. Free breakfast is always good and free wi fi was also a bonus. after a fairly quiet 3 days the hostel got bombarded with about 200 teenage school kids, as you can imagine the place was swarming with them, yelling, singing and playing soccer in the hallways all night...we had another 2 nights of no sleep and we believed that hostel security should have inforced the quiet time curfue to prevent this, or at least get the sudent supervisors to tell them off. It definately ruined our stay there. Other than that is was a fun and stylish hostel.
“Luciana”
The Hostel was very nice. At first, i wasn't that happy with the fact that i had to share the bathroom, but after i got there and saw the infrastructure they had, i was fine with it. The Hostel was less than a block away from the train station and probably 20 minutes by subway away from the main attractions (Brandenburg gate and surrondings). The check-in took less than 2 minutes and check-out took less than 30 seconds. Continental breakfast was included and it was decent (2 types of bread, 5 types of cereal, 2 types of juice, coffee, tea, cheese, ham), it was actully more than i expected. I recomend!!
“Generator Hostel”
The hostel was good, clean, spacious and fun. Breakfast was good, usual bread, cereals, cheese, ham and hot/cold drinks. The only downside to this hostel was that 80% of the guests were 16 year olds, running around and screaming, specially in the bar. But in the rooms it was quiet. about 15 minutes from Berlin town centre, not bad at all considering it was right by the train station and trains run 24 hours! Overall, good value hostel!
“Met my Expectations”
I had mixed emotions about my stay here. To start with the positives, the room was very clean and the hostel exceeded the level of service I have become accustomed to with hostels- for example, towels were provided and they changed bedding on request. The free breakfast was also OK, and a range of cereals, bread, meat and cheese were provided- more than enough to get you going in the morning. There were also good internet facilities and what looked like a decent bar (I went to bed too early to appreciate it!) I had enough time there however to notice that they served decent, cheap beer! The downside of the hostel weren't so much to do with the hostel itself but more the location and people there. On both nights, I was woken up a number of times by people shouting and banging doors in the corridor. The staff said that they 'made the rounds' after 11, but I didn't see much evidence of this. Furthermore, I asked to change rooms twice on the second night due to noise, and only on the second night did they heed to my request. The location was OK, but a good 20 minute train ride or so from the town, so not great if you intend to stay out late (although taxis weren't that expensive). Overall however, I left feeling satisfied.
“I liked this hostel”
It was cheap and comfortable, good location and friendly staff
