NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL

Posted 20-May-2014
Pros: breakfast
Cons: rooms really really need to be renovated
Location: It's downtown ,close to restaurants and a park .
I'm originally from Brazil living in USA for a while now, and booked his hotel through expedia which I liked the fact that was on expedia and it described as a 4 star hotel, but when you got there it can't be more than a 2 star !!! THe room was so old the frig in the room so noisy , the bathroom was stain and rusted, an extremely small. the wifi didn't' work and the employee said it was my laptop's fault cause I had an apple computer!! THe breakfast was wonderful -which most hotels in brazil will have great bkft:) If you are looking for a comfortable stay, nice and peaceful, this is not the hotel for you.

Good location; expensive internet

The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious even though they were old. The biggest problem is that the hotel charges for the wifi.

Central location in Belo Horizonte

Posted 28-Oct-2013
Hotel is a high rise, very well located. Very pleasant roof top pool, bar & restaurant. Common areas recently refurbished, rooms old and worn. Terribly inefficient staff at reception, no idea of how to make an efficient check-out. Idle staff just watching queues grow, no sense of actually giving a hand and getting the job done.

Nice hotel

Posted 14-Oct-2013
Pros: Excellent breakfast, if you are luchy of having that in the 25th floor restaurant
Cons: quality of wi-fi and more channels in english
I can say that the experience was, overall, very good. The only negative point that I have is the number of cable channels with language different than portuguese, and the poor quality of the internet conection.

Good price, great staff, good hotel

Posted 18-Sep-2013
Pros: Service, helpful, friendly
Cons: Long way from the airport.
Location: Right across from a gorgeous park and a festival happened while we were there! Music, dancing, food, souvenirs!
For a reasonable price, Othon Palace is clean, comfortable, spacious and has amazing staff! We only speak a little Portuguese, but staff helped us find the bus to Sao Joao del Rei, which we could not find on the internet by ourselves, ordered us taxis, recommended restaurants that were reasonably priced. Their own restaurant was very classy and for the excellent quality of the meal, a good price. We were impressed. Be sure to purchase the internet, though.

Downtown Belo

The Othon Palace is located in downtown BH. It was great that most of the staff spoke English and the service was excellent. If you have business downtown, it is a good choice. If you don't, maybe stay someplace else. The downtown streets are very crowded and like most downtowns...have lots of trash on the streets and graffiti. There is a nice park across the street though. The restaurant on the 25th floor has an amazing view. The pool was tiny and shallow. And there was no gym. So my opinion is the hotel is mixed.

Overall a nice hotel with a friendly staff

Posted 10-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
Had a really nice weekend stay at Othon Palace Hotel. The staff was competent and friendly. Overall a good hotel to spend some days. The only lack was that I had to pay for the wifi, however the speed and stability wasn't sufficient enough. However when I checked out, I got the amount for the internet refunded. Other things worth mentioning is the free breakfast, parking and the rooftop terrace bar.

It's close to all...

Outstanding Staff. Very helpful and accommodating. Fulfilled most all of our needs. The gratis breakfast is the very best offered by any hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are clean and well supplied. It's newly renovated. We have stayed at the Othon Palace in Rio de Janeiro and Salvidor, Bahia and found them to be just as accommodating. We highly recommend Othon Palace!. Will & Dilma.
