Hotel is located in a Hutong which is nice and the location is great for the price. But don't expect a fancy hotel. The room is ok but it's mainly a question of budget versus location. we had a really nice time in Beijing and I would recommand this hotel but don't expect much out of it.

No aircon
Eveytime I have stayed here the staff are rude and unable to process “waigoren” check in properly - if you can’t accept or train your staff then don’t allow foreigners in your hotel. There is zero aircon in any of the rooms I have stayed in ambient temp is about 47’ - asked for more towels and toiletries and was told you’re not staying for one night sorry

I stayed for 4 nights, the room was clean and tidy, but the smell of the toilet pipes was very bad. Overall it was acceptable, but the hotel was very disappointed that the property was not guaranteed. The last night we went back to the hotel and found something is gone, and the complaint process did not give me a satisfactory explanation. Beside cleaning services, more than two staff have entered my room at different times, which is incredible for the management of the hotel. I am very angry and very disappointed with the reputation of the hotel.

A great way to experience Beijing
The hotel didn’t have our reservation but were able to locate it in a decent amount of time. This hotel seems to be under reservation and for good reason. The carpeting was coming up off the floors and the walls were chipped. However, despite this housekeeping respected our do not disturb sign and refreshed everything was replenished when they did come in. The best part though is the location. If you really want to experience Beijing culture and life, this gives you prime access to the Hutongs and historic sites.

I was given a room which was under renovation. The staff at the lobby didn't understand English so I asked one of them to come upstairs and have a look at the room. But they changed the room afterwards. The hairdryer didn't work and there's no fridge in the room. Otherwise everything was ok. Breakfast was good and worth the price.

Terrible customer service
The service was terrible. First, someone from the staff came into the room at 1am to fix the air conditioning without knocking to make sure no one was in the room. Our AC was fine and they were in the wrong room. When this was brought up with the front desk they didn't seem to care. The second time we went, we missed the first night because of a typhoon in Shanghai. We called them to let them know and they said we had to contact hotels.com. We contacted hotel.com who tried to sort this out with the hotel on our behalf but they were told by the hotel that no one spoke English. When we arrived for the second night they told us that they canceled our entire booking. When we told them hotels.com tried to contact them they said their one English speaker had the day off and it wasn't their problem. Overall terrible and rude customer service to both us and the hotels.com staff. I wouldn't recommend it to any hotels.com user.

Good value
Overall the hotel feels like a 3-star + hotel. The breakfast is reasonable and the staff there are friendly. It's a bit difficult to find as Google Maps seems to have the address off by a couple of streets. We'd stay in this hotel again given how close in proximity it was to Dongzhimen Station and the price we paid.

A full service hotel right in heart of beijing hutongs. Hotel has lovely enclosed garden and is centrally located to main beijing attractions and restaurants. Easy walking to subway system.

For the price was ok
Not a comfortable hotel. You have to walk a couple of blocks to get there. Hotel is old. My room was smelling, not all the services they have offered. The bed was not that comfortable. Not English speaking at the front desk. Front desk people have tried to communicate but didn't have the language. Employees don't help you with luggage. But for the price I have paid was ok. Breakfast buffet was good selection.

Okay for a budget hotel
This hotel is in a great location. Unfortunately, we booked for three adults in a room because the website said it would have a cot available for a small fee. When we arrived the hotel staff said they did not have it. And the hotel room was very cold as we were unable to adjust the temperature. If we brought our entire family (with five kids) this would be fine because we always look for budget places. But for three adults, it wasn't as comfortable as we would have liked. The breakfast was alright though the food was oily, and it was nice to have an exercise room available.

Good value for money and great location.
Good budget hotel in a quiet hutong area. Location close to shops, restaurants and temples. Rooms bit old and bathrooms need updating. Taxis may not know the street to get there. The lobby has beautiful architecture though.

Total disaster.
Booked with pay at hotel for 268 rmb. I arrived at 6.30 pm. Front desk says tate for toom 300 rmb. I found expedia voucher with guaranteed (haha) reservation rate for 268rmb. Some 3 staff came all looked started something talk between themselves (in chinese) then said to me - my room (for 268)'not ready , wait 10. Went 10min. Then another 10 then wait another 10 (outsidr dark and raining in deep huttong) i asked to dhow me the room that i can put my bag while they "finish cleaning", they refused (no rom yet for 268) -badically were keeping me and banking when ill be ready to pay 300. I left that pkace after 7pm. Went through huttongs and found another place to stay (a bit worse rate/value). Abdolute disaster! Expedia should take this hotel off the list.

The building is beautiful. The staff are very nice. The only inconvenient thing is that it's unable to turn on heater because their central A/C is still set as cold air. It was already a little bit cold in Beijing during my stay, particularly in the mornings, so it was cold in the room. Another thing is they are located in a narrow alley. The taxi can't find it and send you to the front door. I had to walk a little bit for ten minutes or so, with heavy luggages.

Not as expected
Upon our arrival our room was completely unacceptable. They showed us two other rooms of which we chose the better of the three rooms To rewrite the room description based on our experience: 1 king bed = 1 queen bed Entertainment - Wifi that was very temperamental and a tv Food & Drink - No fridge. No mini bar. 4 tea bags, a kettle and two bottles of water were supplied Bathroom - had a shower over bath, hair all over the walls and mouldy grout. In first room the bathroom sink had a loose tap that sprayed everywhere and sink leaked out all over the bathroom bench top. There were two pairs of slippers, one of which they took away on the first room 'clean'. Across entire week two toilet rolls were supplied with no spare rolls there 'just in case' Practical - There was a chair and desk Comfort - In first room, air con was broken. In the second room it worked, but not to temperature set on screen, and had a bag hanging over it which distributed foul aroma in to room Daily house keeping was making our bed for us, swapping over towels and emptying the bin. There was no change of sheets, no cleaning of the bathroom at all, even after initial complaints of dirtiness of bathroom. Non-smoking - No Smoking IN BED. There was ash on the bed head, we could only assume this was from previous guests. There was one girl that worked there with competent English which made it hard to communicate and gain assistance when she was not working. Location was alright but hard to reach by car

My worst stay in years. 4 star location 2 star hotel. The hotel looks fine from outside but it's a total run down ghost hotel. The carpet smells and so dirty. Bathtub leaks so badly and they refused to switch room. Dead Mosquitos with dried blood all over on the wall. Half of the 5 th floor where I was at were dark with no light in the hall way feels like a ghost place. So dark and stinky .... Don't stay here .

Don't stay! It's far from a 3.5 star hotel...
The front face of the hotel looks very nice (seems newly renovated), but not so much the inside. The hotel might have insect problems, found lots of marks on the wall like dead insect bodies or mosquitos with blood, and there's a mosquito repellent incense prepared, a bottle of lotion for the same purpose I think. The bathroom is worse, it smells like pee, and there's a hair in the sink left by the previous customer, and the toilet cover is not steadily fixed to the toilet. I got suspicious on its sanitation condition after noticing these, so I checked the pillows, towels, and bed sheet etc. The towels appear used, start turning grey and some have holes... the bed is ok, but the 2 pillows against the wall might have not been changed, since they smell like cigarette (yes, in a non-smoking room). Normally I would ask to change a room, but since I got the hotel with Expedia Opaque rate, and during check-in when I asked for a twin room instead of standard queen bed, they refused saying the hotel's full, I got not choice. However, based on the guest flow on my floor and the lobby, I highly doubt they're full that night; but it's understandable since twin room could cost more and I got opaque rate. The hotel is located in a small ally, and there're lots of constructions going on around the hotel, took us some efforts to find it in the dark. Also, due to the constructions, the hotel has no supply of water between 24h-6h the night we stayed...

Great hotel and location for the price
Beijing hotels can be hit and miss but this hotel is pretty great for the price. The neighborhood is amazing and its more central than it appears at first glance. Close to metro and many stops and popular tourist areas/expat neighborhoods but also in an area frequented by locals.

I'm not sure why this hotel has a three and a half star rating. At most, it should be no more than 3. It is in a dumpy area, the mattress was hard(like all Chinese mattresses), the room fridge was only a cooler - not a real fridge to keep drinks cold, toilet never flushed properly, the lobby was always dark and depressing even on sunny days,there was no safe in the room, the restaurant food was awful and definitely not for western tastes, the staff was helpful but ineffective. If you want to live the 'Hutong" experience of some Chinese people, then this is the hotel for you.

Comfortable hotel
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for four nights. It was quiet, and generally comfortable although the bathroom grout was very moldy. The hotel provided two free bottles of water every day which was very welcome. The breakfast was plentiful and had both Chinese and Western choices. It is located on a narrow alley (hutong) which had several tiny places to eat and local produce. It was interesting to walk through it in the morning and see all the fresh produce being delivered.

Indeed, the staff was very agreeable and helpful, notwithstanding it wasn't a very pleasant experience staying in there. The room was not very clean, water could not be discharged smoothly in the washroom, the room was not so spacious as another 3 stars hotel I was staying in Beijing. In short, it was still acceptable for a backpacker like myself, but I suspect many other travelers will be displeased.

Comfortable beds but thin walls
Generally good for the price and location. Just the walls were too thin and you will get disturbed by your neighbors' television sound. It is around 15 mins walk from the nearest metro station Beixinqiao. The outside neighborhood is nice and has many typical, local Beijing eateries and small bars where many foreigners get by at night.
