We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the port, for a 3-day stay after a cruise. Unfortunately, it is in an area close to many noisy restaurants. The noise continued right into the morning hours. If you like a night party person, this is a great spot but if you're looking for some quiet after a full day of sightseeing - find a hotel off La Ramblas.

Lift was not working on arrival so had to carry luggage up three levels with no one to assist. Not sure how anyone with a disability would have managed. Lift was not put back into service until 3rd day. Room had musty odour.

Very clean rooms and the service was great. However, during my entire stay the elevator was not in service and there was a lot of steep stairs to climb multiple times a day, which was especially difficult with heavy luggage. The area itself is extremely convenient and a quick 30 seconds from the nearest train station and walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The area is also really noisy and we could hear noise of people out on the streets at night but this is to be expected when you're downtown in a major city. Overall, it was a very reasonable price and I would stay here again.

Rooms were clean and fairly updated. Noise from streets - but that's to be expected in the area. Excellent location! Having to leave the room key at the front desk anytime we left the hotel was a bit strange, leaves no sense of privacy. But was still a great hotel for the gothic quarter of Barcelona!

Very handy Cafe's, Shops in all amenities that you would find in a modern, old city. Transit system was very easy to navigate and the Subway Walmart. Easy to find your destination. Tickets in the form of passes could be bought easily. at the Subway.

I love the cleanliness and friendly staffs. Always helpful in providing directions. It is small but it has everything that I need. The hotel is centralized. A stone’s throw to Ramblas, Catalunya & Gothis district, walking distance to Metro and market where I get my fresh fruits everyday. I recommend*****

Great value as other properties were much more expensive. Rooms are very small but who needs to spend time in a room in Barcelona? I appreciate the included breakfast. Looks like newly renovated bathroom. Downside was noise from street below. Great location.

Hotel California is right off La Rambla. Very walkable with easy transportation to see the various neighborhoods in Barcelona. The staff are angel’s with good vibes. We enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable. We would stay again!

The loveliest front desk associate helped us with our check in and was very helpful when we checked out. He called a taxi for us (4 adults and a baby) to take us straight to the airport. He had a great sense of humour and was very accommodating when we had arrived earlier than our check in time.

The Hotel California is tucked away in a small alley, and once you look into the alleys you’ll see a clear "HOTEL" signage. The rooms exceeded expectations in size, and the location was ideal for exploring Las Ramblas with plenty of dining options nearby and easy access to the train station. It's a great spot for a comfortable stay in a bustling area.

The hotel was basic but everything was clean and well maintained, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made the stay enjoyable. The area is a little noisy and busy but it’s to be expected. All in all, well done Hotel California!

Hotel California - Our Stay
The hotel is very conveniently situated only a few steps from the Rambla and in the gothic quarters. The room was nice and clean, but looking a bit dated and some of the furniture including the bedhead was peeling. The floor tiles had grout missing from them and the bath had rust on it. The breakfast provided by the hotel was good, a reasonable selection of food items to choose from. I think the Hotel needs a bit of an update and redecoration.

For its price, one of the best options in the Gothic quarter, I really liked the location of the hotel. It gets noisy a bit during the evening and may last until midnight during the weekend. Good and professional personnel. Although the breakfast was simple, I believe it is fair for its price. The only problem during winter times is the temperature inside the rooms, it might get cold. We were provided by a portable heater, but you can really use it too much. And since the floor is cold, I would suggest the hotel to give some hotel shoes to guests

Staff: they surely have some nice guest service folks, however, we got very unlucky and fell on the wrong service person. He forced us to pay for 2 rooms eventhough our kids are 8 years and a 9 months. We got the 2 rooms paid and alll great, the first room was horribly smelly and sewage smell would come out during the night. No additional rooms available but still we had to pay for the second room. Rudeness was non stop from the same employee over the 3 days. After getting hold of the manager, he refunded 1 night, which is far from being reasonable for what we faced.
