Dining

Guests of the Hotel Auto Hogar enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast each morning.

Siderian - The simple Siderian restaurant looks out on to Avenida Parallel. Breakfasts are buffet style, while lunch and dinner are sometimes available on a set menu basis, though the restaurant usually only opens when there is a large group staying. Starters include the likes of Prawn Salad and Salted Cod Tortilla, while main courses include more Salted Cod and lamb. The unfussy menu is reflected in the plain and simple decor.

“Low Budget Hotel - You Get What You Pay For”

This is one of the lowest price hotel in the area and consequently this is no luxury hotel. The walls seem to be exceptionally thin as everything in the hallway and neighboring rooms can be heard (i.e. footsteps, keys opening doors, crying infants, talking people). The hotel room is old but very clean, the only thing is that the bathroom in the room is a very tight squeeze. This hotel is good if you just want a place to keep your things and sleep at night. The location of the hotel is convenient to the train as there are two lines that is within the block of the entrance. Las Ramblas is a twenty minute walk so a lot of places are accessible easily on foot or using public transport.

“Good Value getting better”

Hotel exceeded expectations. Staff very freindly and helpful. Hotel in process of remodeling every room and will be a better value if the price remains the same.

“Good, the opposite we have read before staying”

It was better than we had expected. Our room was large and comfortable, with good beds and a sunny balcony. It was a little noisy because it is located on a big and important avenue. It is next to the Ramblas, to the gothic neighborhood and to several theatres and spectacles.

Area recommendations
It depends on the rates people want to afford. We prefere next to the Ramblas.
Nightlife
Musical theatre was very good at Barcelona, similar to Madrid.

“Very noisy in the annex”

Allocated room was in annex at rear, through small car park. Sound proofing generally was non existant, and room was next to lift. Sleep was impossible due to people returning to their rooms- could hear voices, footsteps, doors and worst of all, the slamming of the lift outer door at all floors. In fairness to the hotel, there was no hesitation in moving us to a room in the main part of the hotel, which was much better. I had the feeling that they regularly have to move people who are staying more than one night.

“Great value for money”

The hotel was fairly basic but had everything we needed for our quick visit. We were only in Barcelona for one night to see a concert at Apolo/LA (2) and the hotel was the PERFECT location for this. Our room had a balcony and looked onto a busy street but wasn't as noisy as we expected. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from La Ramblas so easy to get to but, as a woman, I wouldn't recommend walking there alone at night. The room and bathroom were clean and there is a few cafes directly downstairs which did an all day breakfast so were were able to have a long lie next morning. I would sum this hotel up as being great value for money.

“Awesome room... decent hotel”

The good: Getting to the hotel is really easy, right next to the Paral.lel metro stop. Nice and close to the tram up to Montjuic too. Touristy street cafe's at the bottom/next to the hotel are decent, really nice staff, we got free bubbly samples like crazy. The room was amazing, i could have spent a lot more time there, but I'm stil glad I didn't. We had three beds for two people, roof access (AMAZING view up there) and a small rooftop balcony. The view from the balcony was of Montjuic, but it was fairly simple to get on the roof and look over the whole city! Wow! The bad: The surrounding neighborhood is kind of lame. You have to walk through La Rambla to get anywhere worth while, and IMO the rambla isn't worth anything more than an I <3 Barcelona t-shirt. My travel companion was pick pocketed and we were routinely hassled by pick pockets and prostitutes later at night. You can walk to the marina easily and you can get on the metro right away, so you can avoid it, but be warned that exploring that part of town isn't that great. Get your coffee and get on the metro. All in all: If you have money, and want to sight see or party/sleep all day: spend the money on an expensive place closer in or on Diagonal. If your young, broke and want to party: get a hostel closer to the beach. This hotel is NOT bad at all don't hesitate to book here, it could just be a little better. The prices are GREAT for a hotel close to town, hostel's will run a little cheaper or the same.

“ok for aq fleeting visit”

the hotel was very cheap and was ideal for myself as i was only there to see a few friends. as a complimentary breakfast was included we saved a lot of money on food and drink too! i would recommend this hotel for anybody hoping to visit barca for a fleeting visit as it is very handy for local amenities, the tourism of barca and also quite near to las ramblas which is basically the centre of barca. enjoy, i did!

“WORSE HOSTEL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The hostel was a nightmare and nothing like the pictures that showed on the internet. At night it was right in the middle of club activity so you could hear all the noise from shouting teenagers below until late ours in the morning. My reservation caled for a queen bed room and they gave me a room with 2 twin beds. When I demanded a room with a queen size bed, they gave me a queen size bed room the size of a cracker jack box. The "bathroom" where me and my wife were suppose to use had a shower the size of a coat closet. It was so terrible that we immediately canceled our reservation and moved to a real hotel up the street. Also, the walls are paper thin. There was a group next door that were drinking and they were loud and we could hear every single word they were saying as if we were in the room as well. When they moved us to another room down the same hall as the previous room, we could still here the group of drinkers down the hall. Don't be fooled, I wasn't expecting ceaser's palace because it was 2 stars. I knew that there would have to be some exceptions, but trust me this hostel deserves to have -1 stars. I would've been more relaxed staying at a motel. I beg of anyone to never stay here regardless of the price. I promise you that you'll end up saving more money by paying extra for another hotel upfront rather than being disappointed in this hotel and then having to pay full rate somewhere else. You have been warned. DON'T STAY HERE!
