Peaceful and cozy
This is such a unique and inviting setting, the views are great (beautiful sunset) and we were greeted by wild turkeys! The attention to detail made us feel so welcomed and relaxed. The beds and sitting areas are very comfortable and there is plenty of room to spread out. Country fresh eggs, milk, snacks and everything needed to cook were wonderful. There’s not much nearby and the winding roads provided a bit of adventure, but we loved getting off the beaten path. Joni was extremely responsive and helpful.

Serene Quiet
The area is in the rural foot hills of the Sierra. Lots of winding roads and open spaces. The house is isolated from traffic sounds and other people. It's the quietest place I've ever stayed. At the same time there is an all day chorus of various birds that come to eat from the bird feeders in the meadow in front of the house. And, for a little extra entertainment there are some feral cats that live in the garage and patrol the property looking for prey. The house itself is roomy and well laid out with a large work area in the kitchen. All three of us could cook at the same time without getting in each others way. (This is unusual.) Many large windows through out the house. The arrangement of the furniture in the living room works great for watching movies. We all felt the house was our favorite among all the houses we stayed in. The main drawback is the "commute time" to either Kings Canyon park or Sequoia. We hike or snowshoe, so we want to spend most of our time outdoors in our chosen activities, not driving long distances. Part of one of the easier routes to Kings Canyon was closed so we had to use a very narrow, very winding road to get to the main route into Kings Canyon. It took over an hour each way in good weather. The day we went to Sequoia was after it snowed higher up with a chain control and because the traffic was so bad we finally turned around to go to another place to hike. We were there over New Years, so the holiday probably brought out more people.

Charming hideaway
Hummingbird House is just lovely! Nestled in the Sierras, on a large piece of property that is delightful on its own, it was the perfect location for easy entry into King’s Canyon NP and from there down into Sequoia NP. We were able to see highlights of both in one loop from the house, returning through Three Rivers on Kaweah Lake. The house is spacious, with comfortable beds, washer/dryer, and even snacks in the kitchen! There were fresh eggs from a neighbor in the fridge as well as juice and milk. Joni was easy to reach and very helpful. She has a book full of recommendations about the area and pictures of all the nearby wildlife that her cameras have caught. Highly recommend!

My family and myself came up to go to Sequoia and Kings Canyon for a week, and stayed at the Hummingbird House. The house owner was very very readily available and quick to respond with things. They house also was stocked with breakfast items for our stay which was very nice. We enjoyed our stay here very much and was very impressed with the home.

Surrounded By Nature
We stayed here a few nights while visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. Joni was a wonderful host. We were greeted by hummingbirds and wild turkeys when we arrived. Joni was just a call or text away and checked on our arrival. She even had local farm fresh eggs, fruit, and some other breakfest items waiting for us. The house is surrounded by nature and a perfect spot to unplug and unwind.

The house is absolutely beautiful! Joni and Larry are awesome hosts, even providing breakfast items for our arrival. They gave us great tips on the parks, and shared fresh veggies from their garden. The house (and host) were perfect. Everything very clean and relaxing. Large space, snacks for us when we arrived, comfortable beds. The road leading us up was difficult to drive, but that didn't have anything to do with the host! Thank you, and we would definitely stay again :-).

It's called Hummingbird House for a reason!
The first thing we noticed when we arrived was a group of wild turkeys. Soon thereafter, we watched dozens of Hummingbirds in feeders spread across the front porch. There was so much wildlife to see! The property is beautiful. We spent hours watching the hummingbirds, they are fascinating! There was plenty of space for our family of five (all adults). The bedrooms were perfect and the host provides a variety of items for breakfast, including fresh eggs from the neighbor's chickens! The kitchen had a fair amount of items needed to cook, but not the best selection of pans so some items may require creative solutions but all doable. The house provided easy access to Kings Canyon and Sequoia. The only thing I didn't quite realize was how remote the location is-it's very remote! Arriving at the house requires some pretty tricky driving on narrow winding roads (if you are subject to motion sickness, this might not be the house for you--fortunately, no one in our group gets car sick). Bring everything you will need to prepare dinners at the house. There are no dinner options within less than 45+ minutes (and several of those that far away were closed the days we were there). The area doesn't have a lot of lodging options in general. I think we made the right choice with this house and I would certainly recommend it, as long as you are prepared for the remoteness!

Awesome house in the great outdoors. Peaceful and relaxing. Of course, lots of hummingbirds, but also wild turkeys that walk right up to sliding glass doors and look in. Host was very helpful with questions about places to visit and shop. Even had fresh local farm eggs in fridge when we arrived! Less than an hour to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.

Fantastic house with wonderful views outside of not only many hummingbirds, but wild turkeys also that walked by several times a day past the many windows in the house. A couple of turkeys would even knock on the sliding glass door by the dining room with their beaks. Of course when we would move towards the door they would quickly walk away. It was fun to watch the two male turkeys try to prance and impress the 9 females that we counted. House was great as was the host.

Fantastic Place!
We stayed here several nights while visiting Sequoia and King’s Canyon National Parks, and absolutely loved it! The house was super clean, had all the amenities needed plus extras, such as a styrofoam cooler and ice packs, games, and books with info on the National Parks. The location was secluded and private, with tons of wildlife, including songbirds, turkeys, California quail (all of which came right up to bird feeders to eat!), a gray fox, and of course hummingbirds. The Wi-Fi worked great, and we also had pretty good cell service with Verizon. The beds were super comfy, and the shower had great water pressure. We also loved the provided breakfast of farm-fresh eggs, fresh fruit, and a selection of juices and cereal. We really enjoyed having dinner outside on the patio to enjoy the nice weather and wildlife. Joni was very nice and personable and left lots of information on where to get food, park information, and how to navigate the back roads with the park road closures (from winter damage due to historical snowfall). We love to travel and this was one of our favorite places we’ve stayed ever! If/when we are back in the area, we will definitely come back to Hummingbird House!

Hummin hummingbirds, Turkeys, lots of flowers. A nice and clean house. We had no time to watch TV.. The wildlife arround us was all we need. We went to see the big trees in Sequoia NP. Just an hour away with a great drive to into the forrest. Joni was great help.

The Perfect Stay in the Perfect Place!
This is truly one of the most delightful places we have ever stayed! Joni's communication is excellent, and she is so welcoming and accommodating. The house is very comfortable, and the visits from the hummingbirds, turkeys, and cats were so fun. We enjoyed drinks on the lighted deck and made dinner every night in the well-appointed kitchen. Only 30 minutes to the Kings Canyon gate, well worth it given the solitude and loveliness of this little gem of a house. I hope to stay at Hummingbird House again!

We have stayed in many VRBO rentals but this one is very special. The peaceful area, the hummingbirds, and wildlife all around are adding to the wonderful experience, but the best part is the host. Joni is very unique and goes on and beyond to have the stay as perfect as possible. The small things make you feel at home- the bedding, the towels, the fully equipped kitchen, and the personal connection. Joni is one of a kind. The six of us so enjoyed our stay at Joni's Hummingbird House. The house was beautiful and very clean with everything we needed provided. Joni also stocked the fridge with breakfast foods and drinks which was very appreciated. We all enjoyed watching the many hummingbirds and wild turkeys that entertained us in the front of the house. Joni was extremely accommodating and quickly responded to any of my texts. She also stopped by to help with a few questions. We enjoyed visiting with her and hearing about the history of the house. We highly recommend staying at the Hummingbird House!!

Beautiful home close to Sequoia and Kings NP
We enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird house. Our host Joni was great and very responsive. The house was clean and cozy, we felt right at home! The kitchen was stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The house had a big front yard, and when we came it was snowing so we were able to make a snowman. Not only were there hummingbirds, but also wild turkeys. It was really cool! The house was close to Kings and Sequoia NP, about a 30-minute drive to the park entrance. The park was so beautiful during the winter time. We will definitely come back!

Home away from home. Hubby had some R&R time from the recent fire nearby and he wanted to see his 1 yr old, so we came for a short stay, wish it was longer. The house felt like home, nice, quiet and relaxing. Joni makes sure you have everything you need. The house is clean (one thing we are both picky about is the cleanliness of a place we are staying at) very well organized and kid friendly. Beautiful, modern and fully stocked home !
We stayed 2 nights at the hummingbird house and wish we had longer time ! Unfortunately our time spent was just to sleep but the house was stocked with a plentiful amount of games , and smoker/bbq, lovely outdoor seating and the essentials should you have little ones ! Everything is in the home is well kept, modern and very clean. The snacks were the best amenity after several hours of driving and hiking! The decor was a lovely touch. The pillows, towels and sheets were so clean and comfortable. The living room, couch and kitchen is large and spacious. The tv has a roku . And lastly, you won’t miss the wildlife because Joni keeps plenty of feed for the turkeys and hummingbirds to always come to ‘their’ home ! My companions gave several compliments on me finding such a wonderful stay ! So thank you Joni! You provided us a vacation home with memories !

We had a wonderful stay and Joni was a great host. She answered many questions prior to booking. She gave clear directions to the property prior to our arrival, which was helpful because the area is very winding and hilly. The property is well maintained. We were even treated to breakfast supplies to start each day. Our family of 5 had plenty of room to spread out and we enjoyed the gazebo/patio area in the evenings.

This property was exactly as advertised. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We were within driving distance of both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The owner gave us detailed information about the area and great suggestions. Hummingbirds were plentiful and wild turkeys came by every morning for breakfast.
