Lovely ayr
A guest house requesting that we tell them what the time of arrival is but tried ringing 4 times to no answer so went to the guest house where there was a note on the door to go down to another guest house which we did. I said we had tried to ring and showed the number but she said it was an old number and they had not changed it on expedia. We then had the keys and the house and room lovely the breakfast next morning at the other guest house was lovely, we loved Ayr.

Double booked
Didn't get to stay as we were double booked. Was offered alternative accommodation by owner which I accepted based on online pictures but this was an inferior room in a more modest accommodation compared to what we booked and paid for. No price reduction was offered after raising a complaint but I was offered a reduction for a future booking or to move and spend our second night at Craiggallan. Neither was acceptable to me. I was offered compensation by expedia but not the owners, who also evidently stated in their expedia correspondence, that I hadn't even complained about the situation. The room ratings stated are therefore neutral.

A very comfortable break and made to feel very welcome. Room was very well equipped with everything we needed. Two small criticisms:there was nowhere to put any toiletries in the en-suite and so a shelf would have been helpful. When entering the front door next door for breakfast, the smell of cooking was very strong and although we enjoyed a very tasty breakfast, the smell lingered on our clothes all day. Apart from this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Craggallan

excellent sea view
I cant speak for all rooms but I had a great view of the bay and the sea. The room was spotless and of quite a modern design. Breakfast was what ever you wanted from the list and served in a very professional manner. I have rated this hotel very highly as I will be going back. I spend quite a lot of my time in cheap hotels and thought this would be a nice change - it was and will be using them even more.
