“excellent location, hotel needs a new decor”
Upon arrival we were met by friendly staff at reception, the lobby looked modern but the dark colours used looked uninviting, and the old looking elevator gave an uneasy feel that was even made stronger walking down the endless badly lit hallway, almost as if it was haunted... the room was big and met basic needs, good beds for comfortable nights, the next day walking outside among the shiny buildings with glass and steel, the brown, murky looking Copthorne hotel stood out, it's been there a long time and it shows, nevertheless the rates are very attractive considering the central location in front of the skyline, I suspect the lack of decor keeps rates low, so if not too sensitive for atmosphere this hotel could work for you.
“Great location, good not great”
We stayed in a Superior Double room which was clean, reasonably well furnished and had a great view. Not quite luxury but very comfortable and extremely convenient to all the tourist attractions and services. We had a good breakfast and a great dinner in the hotel restaurant at very good prices, but there are also lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. Our only real complaint was the lack of a power point within reach of a mirror.
“So, So”
Staff friendly. Building needs some tlc but good location. Breakfast okay.
“Great location”
Great 24 hour service and very reasonably priced meal if you pick a daily special.
“Service cannot make-up for tired hotel”
Great Location, good service, let down by run down state of the room and general decor of hotel.
“Will definetly come back!”
Perfect for our trip to Auckland! Right across fromt he Viaduct and around the corner from Vector Arena! A+++++
“Noisy but nice”
The hotel is well located in the CBD and commands great views over the harbor. Unfortunately it has nightclubs in the immediate neighborhood which made it very noisy on the Friday night we stayed there. May be better earlier in the week.
“Perfect Location”
Great location, comfortable room, exceptional value!
“"Enjoyed our stay"”
Was worried after reading some of the negative comments regarding the hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. Staff were efficient and pleasant. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have been able to sit in our casual chairs and look out our window, however it was a bit too high, but that is only a minor thing. Location couldn't be better. Staff let us have a late check out and leave our car for a couple of extra hours after that time in their carpark so we could look around the viaduct a bit more. Would go back definitely.
“THE HOTEL THAT TIME FORGET--NOT IN A GOOD WAY”
Its not a bad hotel-great views, great location, very clean but its very tired-even a bit shabby. The bathroom was very disappointing!! The walls aren't that sound proof-I had to listen to a group of girls next door talking late into the night. I think the Hilton on the wharf would be a better experience even if it is more expensive. The staff were very good but its more like a 3star hotel at best.
