“Herodion Hotel”
the Hotel's location is extremely good. It is close to all the important historical sites. The hotel's employees were extremely helpful. The breakfast is also good. The beds were not very comfartable and teh AC is always on 20 if you switch it on. It was around end of november and the weather outside the room was better than inside. I recommend this hotel for travellers to Athens.
“A Good Athens Hotel near the Acropolis”
The hotel is 2 blocks away from the ticket entrance to the Acropolis (Parthenon). It is located one block from the newly opened Acropolis Museum. There is a Hop On, Hop Off -- Citi Tours bus stop one block away. You cant ask for a better hotel location. The hotel has 4 floors with about 12 rooms per floor. The rooms are quite clean and typical European. You wont be disappointed. There is guest internet service avail in the lobby for 3 Euro per hr. The internet is SLOW. The staff is friendly and helpful. Most everyone speaks some form of English. A cab ride to the airport is 40 Euro. There is an excellent breakfast buffet that is included with the price of the room. Nobody ever eats lunch or dinner at the hotel. The prices are high and the ambiance is low. You can find numerous good, small restaurants within a 2 block radius. Dont be afraid to patronize any of them. There is a good restaurant next door, but it is a bit pricey and wont take credit cards. Not all restaurants take credit cards. Ask before you commit yourself to one.
“Very good place to stay”
This hotel was recommended to us by friends and we have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who is looking for a conveniently located and comfortable base from which to explore Athens. In fact we would say to anyone visiting Athens that Plaka is the area in which to stay. Want to relax in the sunshine while there? Go to the Roof Garden where you will have a wonderful view of the Acropolis as you soak up the sun. If you don't want to eat in the hotel and don't want to walk far then you can do no better than visit To Katianno which is left out of the hotel door, down the road a bit and on the other side of the road. All of the dishes we ate were delightful.
“Brilliant location”
Hotel is right next to New Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis itself is a short walk up the hill behind. Everything you need to see in Athens is within walking distance. All the hotel facilities are good, including the roof jacuzzi from which you can see the Parthenon.
“great views”
Central location is perfect. Staff is frendly and informative. Glad we choose this hotel in Athens.
“I love the Jacuzzi!”
Everything was so good except the Wireless Internet. They give you a login ID and password for 24 hours for $7. But each time I restart my computer there was a problem with the account. The jaccuzi with the view of Acropolis was perfect. I recommend using it at night!
“great location”
The location was great. We were in walking distance of the Parthenon, the new museum, restaurants and the temple of Zeus. The rooftop was great place to enjoy a glass of wine and the view. Rooms are small by Canadian standards if you plan to spend much time in them (we didn't). If you are looking for a bed, shower and a convenient location - highly recommend. Breakfast buffet was good.
“Exemplary”
This is a fabulous place for a short stopover in Athens. The staff are very helpful - particularly during the taxi driver strike. The location is excellent, with a wonderful roof terrace where you can relax watching the Parthenon light up in the evening. And you're only seconds away from the awesome new museum. We rate it very highly.
“BEST LOCATION ATHENS”
THE HERODION IS IN A FANTASTIC LOCATION OVERLOOKING THE ACROPOLIS. TO SIT ON THE ROOFTOP TERRACE AT NIGHT OVERLOOKING THE ACROPOLIS LIGHT UP IS WONDERFUL. WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE PROMENADE (BASE OF THE ACROPOLIS) LOADS OF LOVELY SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS. LOCATED NEXT TO THE MUSEUM IS ANOTHER BONUS. HOTEL BREAKFAST EXCELLENT. ROOMS A LITTLE ON THE SMALL SIDE BUT LOVELY AND CLEAN AND PERFECTLY ADEQUATE FOR A SHORT BREAK. SIT IN THE HOT TUB OVERLOOKING THE ACROPOLIS IS AWSOME. WOULD THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THE 3 ISLANDS BOAT TRIP. WONDERFUL TRIP STOPPING AT HYDRA, POROS AND AEGINA. ATHENS HAS A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY ATMOSPHERE, AND YOU DONT FEEL YOU ARE IN A CITY BUT A WONDERFUL WARM FRIENDLY RESORT WITH THE ADDED BONUS OF ALL THE CULTURE. THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THE CITY AND THE HOTEL.
“Safe, Perfect four star hotel with great view of Parthenon on roof garden”
Having stayed in the most appalling & dirty Aristotoles hotel in Ommonia Square for 2 nights, I transferred to this hotel near the acropolis. This was the safest and best move I had ever done on my first trip to Athens. I was in walking distance to all the best places such as the Acroplis, the Plaka, Psiri & metro (few minutes walk). I had a superb time strolling around Athens at night under the stars, feeling the warm, but safe atmosphere. Everything of the best quality was in safe walking distance. You will be amazed. Do not make the mistake I did and stay near Ommonia Square as I because it is extremely dangerous, especially if you are going with family or with a lady. The nearest station is the Akropli underground which is about three minutes walk and from there I went to the harbour of Pireaus where I visited a few islands such as Hydra & Aegina. The hotel has a grand feel to it the moment you walk in with a bar, fireplace and amazing roof garden with Parthenon view. The olive garden is nice and has to outdoor jacuzzi which you must pay for. Room was spacious, clean and bathroom was brilliant. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the fact that there is no free WIFI in the hotel, you have to pay. Every hotel I have stayed in has Free WIFI. But then again I spent all my time exploring Athens so did not really bother much about surfing the net on my iPhone. There were bars and restaurants nearby offering free wifi if you get really desperate. Perfect.
