“Can't wait to go back”
The Electra Hotel is in an excellent location. Very close to the Parliament building, Plaka, restaurants, shops and many other tourist attractions. Transport e.g the Metro, buses and trams all nearby. Our room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back to the Electra Hotel again. We highly recommend the Electra Hotel.
“Good locación,wait to go back”
Good:location, personal front desk, breakfast. No good: the room sizes not big, not have the more principal International channels in the room tv
“LIKE A HOTEL ONLY SMALLER”
When people say the rooms at the Electra are small, they really mean miniscule. It's essentially a holding cell for groups on their way to holiday cruises. But to stay in it more than one night can become quite claustrophic. Annoyingly, the Electra is one of those establishments that thinks it's a really good idea to charge stunningly high fees for access to the internet in your room During a five night stay, I paid the equivelent of all my broadband and phone calls for two months at home. And, when it's not particularly fast, ou've gotta' ask why? Breakfast is okay. Staff, fine. location good. Will look for someplace else when I next go to Athens.
“Great location”
This hotel is just one block from Syntagma Square and in easy walking distance of all the major sights. It is also attractive and comfortable. The staff is helpful, the breakfast is good. They let us check in to our room when we arrived at 9:30 am which was most appreciated after an overnight flight. We would definitely return here if we get to Athens again.
“Athens exceeded expectations”
Good hotel, conveniently located near Syntagma Square - close to Metro - easy train journey to airport or bus is also close and cheaper. Most tours leave from the Square and also the hop on hop off bus. Plaka (great restaurants and shopping for tourists) is close by and safe to get to. All major sites are also situated within walking distance. Visit the Plaka Hotel rooftop bar at night for a fantastic over the Acropolis.
“Convenient”
Business class hotel that is right in the touristy part of Athens. Arrived late so wanted a hotel I could rely to make the initial days in Greece smoother after difficult logistics to get to Athens. Very easy to access via the metro from the airport. Breakfast was better than expected but as we spent little time in the room the higher price for this hotel is a judgement call verses others in the area.
“Short stay in Athens”
I stayed at the Electra Hotel for 4 nights in September 2010. I stayed for one night before travelling to Santorini for 3 days then I returned to the Electra for 3 nights at the end of my trip. I was travelling with two other people so we booked a triple room. The first room we got was extremely small. It reminded me of a dorm room in residence. My friend joked that he wasn't sure if he could fit into the bathroom. I actually wonder if it was really a double room where they converted a small seating area into a bed to make it a triple. When we returned to the Electra at the end of our stay our triple room was slightly bigger but still very small. We have joked that if the 3 of us could remain friends after staying in such a small space we will be friends for life! Good news is that we didn't kill each other bad news is that the room and hotel is more reminicent of a 2.5 star hotel by North American standards. In Europe hotels are generally smaller so beware even though the Electra is classified as a 4 star hotel it doesn't feel like that at all! If we hadn't already paid for our hotel room in advance we probably would have booked a room somewhere else. If there are only two or less people per room then the Electra hotel may be a more comfortable option. The best thing about the Electra is its location. It is located very centrally, close to great shopping and restaurants. Overall Athens is a great city, great food and sites!
“Good location, good hotel”
After staying at many high and low end hotels in Athens, Electra is a good find. Great location, clean immaculate rooms, small but expected in Athens. Expensive mini bar and services so better off grabbing from outside. Full price is not worth it but at Expedia prices extremely good value. Left at 3 am for bus to airport (only 2 blocks away and 3 euros vs. 40 plus for a taxi) so did not sample the breakfast. They were willing to set out something early but we misunderstood and thought we were getting room service so we never saw what it was. Having to pay for wifi in room seems a rip off when almost all lower end hotels and most restaurants have it for free. At the right price would definitely return.
“Location, Location, Location!”
We spent three nights at this hotel at the beginning of our 3 week tour of Greece. Located in the heart of Athens next to Syntagma (Constitution) Square, We were within walking distance to practically all of the Old City. The Metro stop was about 100 yards from the hotel providing access to the airport and connections to the port city of Piraeus. The hotel itself offered fine service, including a more than adequate breakfast buffet. Only sore point was the ridiculously small bathroom (however the water pressure in the shower was amazing.) Expensive but more bang for your buck than most of the other hotels around the square.
“Hotel Electra”
This hotel was in a great location in Athens, right in Syntagma Square. It's so easy to take the train from the airport and way cheaper than taking a taxi. We were able to walk to all the shops, cafes, and tourist attractions. The room was pretty basic, but all we needed it for was sleeping. The breakfast in the morning was amazing complete with fresh squeezed orange juice. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
