The hill that hosts Cran-Gevrier has been occupied for many centuries. Try to imagine what this place must have looked like well over a thousand years ago, when the Romans were the very first to build a settlement here. Visit today and you will find that Cran-Gevrier now consists of two tiny former villages: Cran and Gevrier. Over time, these two hamlets were combined with one another and were eventually incorporated into the wider town of Annecy.
Spend some time enjoying a walk along the banks of the beautiful Thiou, the river that runs through the neighbourhood. Follow the river southeast all the way to the scenic old town of Annecy.
Bring kids to the La Turbine science centre, a fantastic attraction located in Cran-Gevrier and easily accessible from anywhere in the neighbourhood. This modern facility aims to promote science through events and exhibits, and even has its own movie theatre.

The old town is also located right next to sparkling Lake Annecy. Rent a kayak or boat and head out on the bright blue lake, or spend a sunny day lounging on its banks and cooling down in its waters.
