"We decided on staying at The Anchor Inn because of it's close proximity to Foyle Park, where we were attending a wedding. Its quite a small pub with only 5 rooms ..We stayed in the Rupert Brookes room which was a fantastic size ..High ceiling with lovely beams .. I would say that there were 2 things that let the room down .. Firstly the curtains in the room were very torn, so when closed you could see where the lining was non existent they definitely need to be replaced . The other...

"The entire team at Swan Hotel was very friendly and engaged well with the guests. The restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. Our superior room was large, clean and very comfortable. The hotel was an easy 30 minute walk to Jane Austen’s home and Chawton. Would highly recommend the Swan Hotel for a stay in Alton."
