I’m pretty sure if you were staying at the home longer, utilising both the open fireplace & the combustion heater you would truly get to enjoy the winter getaway a little more & appreciate the warmth & cozy vibe. Our property is as you mentioned perfect for couples right through to small groups but a longer stay is certainly recommended - hence why we do not normally take 1 night stays. Bella Vista Farm House is the perfect property for a girls weekend away & having your own room & bathroom makes it even more luxurious! Yes, the off grid experience can be a little concerning but as you found following the house rules makes it a wonderful experience.

Thankyou for choosing to stay at Bella Vista Farm House for your recent getaway - I'm surprised that you found it a long drive to anywhere as we are only located 15-20 mins to pretty much anywhere in the Adelaide Hills from Hahndorf, Woodside, Lobethal, Birdwood and only 30min to the Barossa Region... yes we are approx. 50min from the city but extremely close to many wineries and tourist destinations in the Adelaide Hills (which is where you booked). I do also send a 3 day Itinerary of many places to visit locally while staying... Great to hear however you did appreciate the quality in the home and amazing outlook.

Thank you Maria for taking the time to review review our property I’m terribly sorry you found the negatives out weighed the positives but I’ll reply in detail just to clarify for those reading the review. For your stay we left 3 rolls of toilet paper, yes plus multiple odd rolls in the cupboards for a 2 night stay & 4 people. We do leave what we feel is sufficient I would be surprised that that wasn’t enough for your stay considering there was still toilet paper in the cupboards. Leaving surplus supplies only goes walkabouts! As far as dishwashing powder/tablets as we are a sustainable off grid property we do not encourage the use of this appliance however it is available as a luxury or if you do not like washing dishes by hand. In saying that you are well aware in our property listing as well as at the time of confirming your booking plus your arrival email that these tablets/ dishwashing powder isn’t included.. we do supply dishwashing liquid, dish sponges & tea towels! I personally clean the property myself one of the comments we often get is how clean the home is. Noting the kitchen cupboards above the stove as not being clean was disappointing please understand cleaning gloss kitchen cupboards isn’t the easiest and sometimes you do see marks & I’m sorry if you may have found a few crumbs in the cutlery tray I’ll get onto this. Again our images are quite clear as to shelving in our showers, popping shampoo and body wash bottles on the floor isn’t really an issue for many guests. YES we do clearly indicate what is included and not - I’m pretty confident all the basics are on hand for a short stay like coffee, sugar, salt & pepper as with any other holiday rental you simply supply anything else needed for your stay - not sure what was missing here for you? The black boards and the subtle notes around the home are simply a reminder to guests that we are a unique off grid property, where timber can be located, how to use ceiling fans, what to do upon checkout & how our septic system works - again i wouldn’t think they are “what you can & can’t do reminders” just little reminders to help guests navigate a sustainable property - guests that don’t like to be told may find this annoying & I do apologize & disappointed you found it over the top. Not all properties are the right fit for everyone but it was great to see our property provided that WOW factor when you walked in, a great location & you did have a great weekend. I will be sure to take in everything you have mentioned although most points covered are very clear in our property description & transparent from the minute you made your booking.

We hope the children loved the animals visiting during the day and enjoyed feeding them, you had great timing with the baby calf just born. We don’t know how lucky we are in Australia to have the perfect little getaways right on our doorstep.. Covid has been a real pain, but if anything it’s taught us to explore our own backyards & as you have experienced there’s so much to see and do for the whole family right here in the Adelaide hills yet feel like your a world away from home!
