"The Alcanea hotel is a most unique property. It is decorated in a way that emphasizes the 500 year old fortress it is a part of. The bed was amazingly comfortable, with lovely bedding. "We had a room with private jacuzzi. The tub and the separate shower room were excellent. Room was very clean. There was no staff at check-in and information on breakfast was not explained when we received a phone call about self check-in, therefore we did not have an option to have breakfast. "One of the best hotels I have stayed in. The staff were amazing. Especially the evening restaurant manager who, with the help of the chef, daily came up with meal options not on the menu to suit my diet needs (I did not request for this to happen). It was the first time I had stayed in an adult only hotel. I really enjoyed the quietness, feeling of being safe and facilities. The hotel was in a very convenient position for public transport and in easy reach of Chania. "
