Ramada by Wyndham Oakland Downtown City Center

10/10 Excellent

This is a budget hotel in downtown Oakland. Maybe the decor isn't as beautiful as it could be, and the rooms are small for Americans (I'm English so was delighted by what I saw as a decent-sized room). And yes, downtown Oakland has a reputation (although I walked around at night and felt safe). You also should know that the staff were all wonderful, bed comfortable, the room was quiet, there was a nice table to work at, the breakfast was good for a hotel of this standard and it is competitively...

Extended Stay America Suites Oakland Alameda Airport

Bay Farm Island

8/10 Good

This is a decent self contained property with a fridge and cooker in the room- but no utensils or cooking pots so if you wanted to cook you’d need to bring all your own stuff. The location was great for a night stop before dropping off a hire car at the airport and catching a flight but out of the way on the far side of Oakland airport and I didn’t see many facilities near by. This means you’d have to drive everywhere for anything. The room was large with a sofa as well as comfy bed and roomy...

Marin Lodge

10/10 Excellent

This is a well maintained , refreshed quiet spot for a very comfortable rest. Good mattress, windows that open or AC if you want it. Nice size rooms for all your stuff, good lighting and plugs if you need to work. Nice bits and pieces of thoughtful extras that other big chain hotels are no longer doing. Clearly a small property that is doing well from the hard work being put into it by the family that runs it. I will be staying again!
