8.2/10 Very good! (112 reviews)
A clean and spacious room. Enjoyed a nutritious breakfast at the breakfast buffet with a lovely view. Very helpful and English speaking staff.

9.4/10 Exceptional! (1,003 reviews)
There isn’t a better located hotel on the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls than Gran Melia. It is the only one inside the National park/Falls, making our visits so convenient and views from the hotel, magical. The lobby, restaurants, outdoor spaces are modern and attractive. The area that is not on par with the general spaces and price are the bedrooms (or at least the jungle level twins and king rooms). The rooms are very dated and obviously well-used. The heating didn’t work in my room and after being told it’s part of a central system twice (except my friend a few doors down had heat), they brought me a space heater. There aren’t outlets for charging devices near the beds. The bathroom is obviously old, but did have good water pressure. The beds were comfortable enough. They advertise soundproofing, but I could hear everything next door.
Overall, while we found our rooms well below a 5 star caliber (barely 4), especially for the cost, we’d still do it all over again because of the convenience to the falls.
Not a diss, but a learning we experienced at most hotels and people we met in Argentina. There were very few people that we could easily communicate with in English. We are in a foreign country, and it is for us to adapt so we shouldn’t expect fluency, but were surprised based on travel to 60+ countries that Argentina was more difficult than most parts of Asia, Africa, Europe etc.
I understand basic Spanish and apps are great so it was all fine, just unexpected.

9.2/10 Wonderful! (488 reviews)
The hotel is set in the most beautiful grounds and our welcome was warm.
It was great to have breakfast and dinner included in the price; the buffet style food was of a good quality, although only just warm but there was plenty of choice. The staff were attentive and it was lovely to have a linen table cloth and napkin at dinner.
We were disappointed with the BBQ that we paid extra for on the second night. The meat was dry, probably reheated from the previous service; however, when we pointed this out to the waiter he was quick to replace it with freshly cooked meat, which was delicious.
The hotel very kindly allowed a late check-out and arranged for a taxi to the airport.
The bedroom was fine, with a jacuzzi bath, robes and flip flops for the spa (which we didn't use). The only disappointing thing was the absence of tea/coffee facilities in the room.

9.2/10 Wonderful! (1,001 reviews)
A super location in a superb environment. This hotel has seen better days and it could do with an upgrade, it feels a bit 90s, especially the spa, and the in-room facilities. Definitely a nice place, but if I was the owner, I would invest a bit more, so I could remain competitive. Too many excellent hotels in the area to choose from.
