(357 reviews) The grounds and the setting are extremely well thought out and welcoming. I knew to expect issues, as when I called to confirm our massages, I was advised they were never booked into the system and there was no appointments left that day. No apologies - that's just the way things are. We arrived early and were told we needed to wait until 3pm to checkin- no issues - but it was obvious we were seniors. We were then told, our room was on the 3rd floor and we needed to walk and carry our luggage there. Why - there were vacant rooms on the other side of the hotel where the elevator was working. I found the check-in person would not reason with me - ie your room is over there. It's too bad, this person was on the front desk and left this impression. (617 reviews) Unique hotel, but the staff need to be more customer service orientated. When we checked we were handed the key and no words came out of the mouth of the person who checked us in, we didn't know where to go to find our room. When I asked he pointed to a hall. We were also accosted by another worker when we were outside enjoying a drink in the garden area, she was very rude at first telling us we couldn't drink alcohol we brought, we had to buy it there. We didn't know there was a "rule" about it. Her attitude change when we apologized for not knowing and also let her know what a horrible experience we were having at their hotel. I wouldn't recommend this place to foreigners.
