The hotel was great and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were good and the outside area with the view of the lake was pleasant to be in. Car parking was easy outside the hotel and there is a lovely lake to run round. If you need the supermarket there is one just over the road. My teenagers complained slightly about the pool being overcrowded as it was quite small but in fairness it was a hot day so was unsurprisingly busy. The reason for the 3 stars was the dinner service. Whilst the staff were working really hard there seemed to be the need for some refinement of how it was led / run. It seemed people were going to the bar to order drinks as it seemed quicker that way. We waited well over half an hour to actually put an order in after booking a table for 8pm. When we did order the food appeared remarkably quickly which would have been great except for the fact we still didn't have any drinks. I actually had to get up and speak to our waiter who was taking orders at the bar rather than bringing the drinks which we had asked for when the food arrived. The food quality and pricing wasn't at a budget level so its a shame the service didn't match. I would imagine this will be resolved at some point soon and should this be the case it would be a great place to stay. I would probably return in the expectation that it would be resolved.

The exterior belies the beauty within. Our room was soothing decorated, air-conditioned, comfortable bed, excellent shower, kettle, small fridge, drinking water. The staff at reception were excellent both in the evening and morning. 10 minute or less walk to a wide variety of restaurants. I would definitely choose to stay there again.

The over standard of the hotel was excellent but did feel it was quite dated with the decor and probably not worth price we paid for 1 night

Wow - amazing, needs more than 5 stars! Staying in a proper castle is always an experience, but this was the best of all that I have stayed in. Lovely room (we were upgraded), so much character, amazing service, we even got a tour of the castle. Dinner and breakfast were very good, the staff attentive and very helpful. Note - this property would not be suitable for people with mobility issues
