Idealy located close to downtown, this Victorian Period Home is just like an English Upscale Guesthouse. It was clean and comfortable. The Parking was right outside and we were given a parking pass. That was very handy. We enjoyed our stay. The staff member I met was Haris he was very helpful. Many Thanks

The staff are not there all the time, but they met us to let is in. There are lots of items available, for an extra charge. Parking is included, and that is a plus. It is a beautiful home, but very expensive compared to other options. Walkable, if you are in good shape, to downtown. Beds were comfortable and it was quiet.

The receptionist/clerk was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spacious, clean and had good amenities. The complimentary breakfasts were fine but the Sunday service was poor and we had to ask for basics like jams & no offers of coffee/tea refills. Monday's server was efficient and attentive. That's a management/training issue. The Kleenex and bar soaps, in both rooms were not replaced for the second night stay, even though the towels were replaced and beds made, indicating housekeeping service. A minor issue is that there is a lack of signs directing to how to access the bistro from the hotel, through the many hallways. We were accommodated with excellent handicapped parking access. The exterior was clean, well maintained and inviting. Other than a few minor issues, we would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again on a visit to St. John's.

We loved our stay at the Whale Guest House -- we stayed in the Blue House. It was easy to find and check in/out, impecably clean, comfortable bed and shower, and has amazing views of the surrounding bay and open ocean in the distance from inside and the outdoor patios. The host / staff were incredibly helpful before hand with information on local restraunts and things to see or do (including boat local boat tour recommendations), and we arrived earlier than planned and allowed us to check in in advance which was greatly appretiated. On our final night we treated ourselves to an amazing hot tub under the full harvest moon reflecting over the Atlantic - it was a perfect way to wrap up our stay in Newfoundland. Thank you!
