The young guy on reception yesterday was amazing and a credit to the hotel but the poor guy really could have done with managerial support to check people in quicker

If you're travelling with kids it will be ideal: there is a soft play, activity room, and pool which are all clean and included. I didn't rate the breakfast, not as good a selection as other hotels and not that tasty. The rooms and communal areas are dated and pretty poor, but fairly clean. The highland hotel has a great veranda which I felt was under utilised by not opening the upstairs bar. For the price I paid it was about right, but it really needs renovating.
