(439 reviews) This is a beautiful hotel close to Earls Court tube making it easy to get around London. The decor is beautiful and would consider staying again in the summer as the garden is lovely. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and were delighted to receive a room upgrade snd be able to check in even though we were 4 hours before usual check in time. The room was lovely. Unfortunately we found the bed too hard for us which impacted our nights sleep but I don’t blame the hotel (everyone is different ☺️). There was some confusion about bar opening times - we were originally told it was 7-10:30pm but we later discovered it’s open all afternoon and one evening when we got back after 10:30, the bar staff kindly served us. The two bar guys were very friendly and very knowledgeable- we enjoyed their advice on Tequila. My only real area of criticism was the breakfast and the lady manager at breakfast. My first day I asked for sourdough toast and poached egg and despite the restaurant being very quiet, if was cold when it arrived. Also I ordered a flat white which I had to chase and it wasn’t brought until after I’d eaten my breakfast. Mostly though, we found the restaurant manager to be very rude. She never smiled (apart from when joking with the chef and other staff) and my husband spoke to her the second day to ask for some toast on the pass which hadn’t been delivered with his breakfast, and she looked at him and promptly turned away to greet some new guests in to the restaurant. (1,009 reviews) Gorgeous building, room and well maintained gardens, however for a 5\* hotel the service was poor, the staff seemed less than enthusiastic towards guests and there was no feeling of warmth or welcome from them. Possibly because they where so few in number. The hotel seriously lacks enough staff to provide much of a service. They hardly provide you with any extras in the room with only 2 coffee pods provided each day with nothing other than coffee top ups provided beyond the first day. The spa area was fantastic, 10 years ago but now its very worn and showing its age.I couldnt believe that for this level of hotel how dirty and unclean it was. Brown tide marks around the pool, black mould on the shower heads in the thermal area and the ice room smelt mouldy and was covered in black mould especially around the tube where the ice came out, the shower head and the cubicle. All the fancy showers in the thermal area didnt work as they should or didnt work at all. Most of the thermal pool jets didnt work apart from the odd few, tiles were missing, dirty windows and unclean floors. This hotel whilst lovely needs to seriously look at the service it is providing especially to guests who stay beyond a couple of days and invest maintenance and a deep clean of its spa area.
