(524 reviews) We were disappointed with our stay. As guests, we were not informed in advance that there is an additional fee required to reserve the spa. Even more frustrating, there was no spa availability at all during our stay. The staff made no effort to accommodate us or offer any alternatives, such as discounted treatments. Had we known this beforehand, we would have chosen a more centrally located hotel, as we specifically booked a spa hotel in order to use the spa. The room itself was clean; however, the bathroom had visible mould and stained grout, which detracted from the overall experience. We were also surprised by the disproportionate cost of basic refreshments €27 for two bottles of water and two orange juice. The location is quite remote, requiring a car or taxi and around a 20 minute journey to reach the town centre. Overall, the lack of transparency regarding the spa, limited customer service, and poor value for money made this a disappointing stay. (339 reviews) Overall a good experience, but by any means a great experience. For a hotel with these ratings, the expectations are not met: none of the showers worked properly- one was leaking, the other one didn’t work. The room is market as it has a balcony with ocean view: that was true, as was ‘some’ ocean view, otherwise it was a lot of ‘roof view’ of the adjacent building. Some of staff members was trying to do their best (the valet team was fantastic as they have a very hard job to move the luggage up and down on a lot of stairs), but some of them just average not something expected from a hotel with such ratings … and rates (ie at check out they charged us one night more for the parking, the offer for transportation was just outrageous- ie 3 times the taxi rates for same type of car…). On the other hand, pleas do yourself a favor and don’t go to the hotel’s restaurant: the service is just bad and the food not so great either (at least for the expectation from a Michelin star restaurant). Let’s start with the reservation: we asked for dinner reservation, and they booked us at 8:00 pm, when the best time is 7:00 pm so you can enjoy the sunset- they didn’t mention / offer this, albeit the restaurant was half booked when we arrived. They asked for formal dressing: don’t worry - they do not reinforce: the people are showing up in T shirts and flip flops. Every staff member was incredibly courteous, kind, and helpful, and special recognition to the housekeeping staff who helped make the space welcoming in the day and comforting in the evenings. Everyone was always pleasant and upbeat, making it an excellent place to stay. My spa experience was amazing too, with thoughtful guidance on using the amenities and a fantastic massage by Carla. Highly recommend! I will add that I had one mildly rude conversation with a hostess in the restaurant, however, this was nothing compared to how tremendous the rest of the stay was.
