If you’re looking for a unique quiet medieval castle experience this is the place to stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Grounds were incredible, breakfast and dinner were very nice. Second oldest golf course in the world wasonly 3 miles away. Beautiful walking trail with view and historical stone marker at the capture location of Mary Queen of Scots. Would definitely stay again.

It was underwhelming - just an ordinary hotel nothing in particular stood out or felt special. We booked a standard twin which turned out a lot smaller than expected but with large bathroom. Think we were put in the accessible room. There were scratches across wardrobe door but ok. Breakfast good, continental was buffet service and you ordered the hot food. In a good central location. Staff were pleasant. One of lifts broken so had to wait a while for working one and once in that one there seemed no logic to which floor it would go to next. All in all it was OK.

Below expectations for this price point:
- Creaky floorboards throughout, worse than an old house
- Generally poor soundproofing from walls to windows
- Washing machine handle was broken/missing. Had to pry open the door with butterknife otherwise our clothes would be trapped in the machine
- No room service after midnight, not even simple sandwiches/snacks
- No AC
