Although the room was ok the hotel overall was very dated! The restaurant was separately run from the hotel and the pool area while nicely located on the side of the lake was in need to maintenance and modernisation…
I was very surprised that the hotels.com rating for this hotel was so high… at best this is a 3-star hotel…
The staff were perfectly friendly and helpful, but there were not enough of them. You had to find the restaurant staff if you wanted a drink while sat by the pool area.
We did eat in the restaurant on one night and although the food was good, it was expensive..
If you are used to a good standard of hotel on holiday, I would not recommend this one.

I am happy that I chose Beatenberg Resort & Spa for my first trip to Switzerland. Being up in the mountains, the hotel has incredible views. The bus is free as long as your a guest, and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. I got the panoramic room with the balcony, every morning is like waking up in the heavens. The free breakfast has a wide variety of options and the dining room area has great views. You can eat outside on the terrace too. Gym and sauna have everything (steam and cold bath also). The staff are friendly and have excellent manners and graciousness. Everything is clean. Melina and Gelson provided first-class service. I’m already looking to book again for next year, but it’s too early.

My husband grabbed a snack bar by the buffet area, he didn’t know that it’s not part of the complimentary breakfast. Later, we saw the sign “Honesty Bar”. It’s quite sarcastic because nothing was in English except for that, it would be fair if there’re price tags letting people aware of it. We travel there with the main purpose of using the Bath, but was told that it was closed for annual maintenance until the last day of our stay. It would be nice for the Hotel to mention something in the information section before we paid for the stay.

Too may things went wrong to list, plus it was funny to watch the reaction of other guests with the same issues. It looks amazing to be fair but , It's definitely overpriced and certainly not a 5 star hotel.
