I've been staying at the Conservatorium regularly for 12 years now, and it is remarkably consistent: great location, awesome people, striking architecture, and the best gym of all the 5-star hotels in Amsterdam.
This year, though, there was one welcome change and one not-so-great one: the breakfast has improved, with the addition of a buffet, which is convenient. But they also seem to have started letting local residents use the gym, so it's now super-packed at all hours, and you have to wait for machines.
The gym has always been a big part of why I stayed there, so that's disappointing.

This hotel is simply amazing! The location is fantastic, and the staff are absolutely wonderful. The service is exceptional!
The room is small, but honestly, we didn’t need anything more. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the room is completely soundproof and the blackout curtains make it perfectly dark, so we had a fantastic night’s sleep.
We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely stay here again next time we visit. Highly recommended!

This was an adorable boutique hotel within 5 mins drive to the cruise port and within walking distance to the heart of Rotterdam. Our particular room was the “romantic suite” and was enormous with a bathroom area as big as the room itself! Tastefully decorated and welcoming! The lobby sitting area was cozy and had coffee, etc as well as a small bar and light snacks. They serve breakfast in their quaint kitchen and it was delicious as well as very convenient before we embarked on our cruise. I would absolutely stay here again!
