This was a gorgeous hotel with rich history, well maintained, great location to walk downtown and great entertainment in the evening in the main foyer and bar. Rooms were spacious and clean.

Cool old hotel. Facade in front is great, valet parking, door and elevator attendants. Nice bar/restaurant. Staff was great and let us check in an hour early.
We did have a few issues, tho- the room had a distinct pencil-shavings BO smell. Maybe some previous guests were just smelly and sweaty, or maybe it’s just like any other historic building that has that residual smell of people being there for more than a century prior to the advent of solid antiperspirants.
The other thing was that the TV didn’t turn on. Remote had batteries, but no TV.
If it hadn’t been for those two things, I wouldn’t have an issue with the outside noise (not a street facing room) that was incessant through the day, along with the jet-engine AC in the room. We did not sleep well.
