Lofoten Cheap Holidays

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed. Staff felt like family by the time the stay was over.

This is a lovely new hotel on a convenient location for the Tromso to Lofoten drive or vice versa. It is also close to the Hurtigruten museum which is so interesting to visit on a wet day. The hotel is modern and spacious with an aesthetic bar area design. Cocktails were professionally made. Dinner was also good, if limited in choice. Superb breakfast selection. Our room had a high quality bed, tv and effective blackout curtains, a Norwegian summer necessity. We thought this hotel was excellent value.

Note-- this hotel has two buildings that are attached to each other via a hallway. One building is new and has elevators. The other is an old building w/stairs that go up and down..and back up, and has NO elevator. The staff carried our suitcases up and down the stairs, but I felt like we were in an old dumpy hotel. The "family room" had a very old uncomfortable pullout sofa with metal box springs. Definitely needs to be replaced. We learned that the "old" hotel was an office building, and the Thon hotel bought it and never put in an elevator. Also, it was super loud-- until about 1:30am, could hear people outside laughing and talking. On the plus side, the location is central and breakfast was very good.

The front desk clerk, Joseph, was very helpful. The hotel property was great. We were here off season, but still loved the area. Many of the shops were closed because we got in late on a Saturday but the Mix was open. We hiked nearby and took advantage of Joseph’s restaurant recommendation the Fiskekrogen which was excellent. I strongly recommend the fish soup.

The location was very good which overlooked the harbor and close to everything.
