(1,000 reviews) Overall the hotel had charm, but the rooms were dated, carpet was dirty in places and the service wasn't great. Specifically Tom, the booking manager, was very unhelpful and rude. Thankfully the hotel manager, Henrietta, stepped in and helped me. I would stay again if they did a complete remodel of all rooms and trained their staff in proper customer service and just being polite. (334 reviews) The grounds and the setting are extremely well thought out and welcoming. I knew to expect issues, as when I called to confirm our massages, I was advised they were never booked into the system and there was no appointments left that day. No apologies - that's just the way things are. We arrived early and were told we needed to wait until 3pm to checkin- no issues - but it was obvious we were seniors. We were then told, our room was on the 3rd floor and we needed to walk and carry our luggage there. Why - there were vacant rooms on the other side of the hotel where the elevator was working. I found the check-in person would not reason with me - ie your room is over there. It's too bad, this person was on the front desk and left this impression.
