Costa Rica Adults Only Holidays

From the start of our stay the staff was incredible, from offering up travel tips and explaining all that the hotel has to offer. Emmanuel at reception went the extra mile to make our stay unforgettable. The property is beautiful and the animals of Costa Rica are your neighbors. We saw spider monkeys among the mango trees on the property, and heard the howlers as well as the many bird species all across the resort. The views from our bay view room were incredible, offering beautiful sunsets and a snapshot of the whole bay. Occidental offered an amazing stay for our first trip to Costa Rica!

Overall, I had a really good time. The food was actually very good compared to some of the reviews that I saw that mentioned it was mediocre. The transportation staff were top-tier and their driving abilities are unmatched. The only thing is that I did call and asked for the in room snacks to be stocked, but that was never done during my time.

Waitstaff at restaurant and beach bar were amazing! Very attentive, friendly conversations, missed nothing in terms of service, remembered names and room numbers after first meet. Housekeeping was okay but left the same dirty cups in my room for 4 days. Front desk at check in was good and informative; check out was rude. Nice that the hotel helped with some excursion and shuttle planning. Great private beach access and saw howler monkeys on the path down (twice)! Pool was lovely. Included dinner was amazing - 3 courses each night with a great variety. Good time overall.

We first learned of the place from The Reluctant Traveler and committed upon learning of their sustainability efforts. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and our room was beyond expectations. We loved that they have an adult-only section of the resort. The design of the grounds encourages exploration and we saw a wide variety of birds including toucans, Curassows and Crested Guans. When being escorted to dinner one night, the driver asked if we wanted to take a detour to look for frogs - of course! We loved it! The location is ideal for other activities in the area. The coffee there was the best we had the entire vacation - which says a lot in a country that prides itself on its coffee. If we were to return, we would've stayed here longer.
