Portugal

Portugal is at the very top of my To Visit List. I haven’t been in years, so this is my dream itinerary!

I would start by checking into Vilalara Thalassa Resort, the most beautiful boutique hotel, with its own private white sandy beach and a decadent spa for some much needed spoiling!  There are beautiful tennis courts to keep my husband and I busy, and a delightful little children’s pool for our little one.

We would rent a car to visit some of the nearby beaches and little towns, Portugal has some of the best food on earth, so we’d want to get around and try as much as possible! This would be the perfect base to see the best of the East: Faro, Olhão, Tavira & Cacela Velha, or maybe hike the Monchique Mountain for breathtaking cliff views, lush gardens and moorish castles and panoramic views from the highest point in the Algarve.

Having fully relaxed on the beach and in the spa, we would then move to Bela Vista Hotel & SPA - Relais & Châteaux. A charming spot with 38 individually decorated rooms, each with their own personality. Known to have some of the best food on the coast, we would feast at both of their restaurants and make the very most of the city centre location to try some of the local bars and cafes. A boat tour of the Benagil Caves is a must, the Loulé market too, not forgetting the foodie paradise of Quarteria and Vilamoura. All followed by a hot-stone-massage at the hotel spa. Bliss! Don’t forget to read up on the latest travel guidance and restrictions when planning your trip.

Cotswolds

A little closer to home are The Cotswolds. Picture perfect, chocolate box villages separated by rolling hills, green pastures and some of the most beautiful countryside our little island has to offer.

If you’re a lover of all things luxury, Lucknam Park is a must. Country house living at its very finest, with only 43 totally unique rooms it never feels busy. Slip into some wellies and stroll through the grounds, pop by the stables to say hello to the horses, ride a bike through the winding lanes, dip into the spa and dine at the Michelin starred restaurant, before sinking into your sumptuous four poster bed.

It’s the perfect base for exploring The Cotswolds and The South West. Kids will love Longleat Safari Park, while nearby Bath has some of Britains most beautiful architecture, restaurants and boutiques.

If little villages are what you’re after, you simply cannot beat the location and charm of The Slaughters Country Inn. Located in the middle of one of my favourite villages, right on the little river that runs right through it. Pack your walking boots and picnic basket, this is the perfect place for exploring the countryside before heading home to the hotel for a cream tea on the lawn. For a proper introduction to the area, book a tour with the Cotswold Exploring and be sure to take your camera along, you’ll see some of the most beautiful undiscovered stone villages, hamlets and hidden valleys The Cotswolds have to offer.
