The Space:

Life at Pipes Canyon Lookout feels refreshingly uncomplicated. Inside, polished concrete floors, warm wood furnishings, and clean contemporary finishes create a comfortable home base for days spent exploring the desert. The recently renovated living room, kitchen, and dining area share an open layout, with sliding glass doors connecting the gathering spaces to the outdoors. It's easy to cook together, spread out for a movie, or step outside whenever the canyon catches your attention.



The home's personality comes through in the details, from the kitchen's blue hexagonal tile to the rustic bedroom furniture and colorful textiles. Everything feels casual and welcoming, with plenty of space for a family or small group of friends to settle in.

The outdoors are what make Pipes Canyon Lookout special. Five acres of rugged hillside, mature Joshua trees, and wide canyon views give you plenty of reasons to spend the day outside. The landscape feels expansive, and the home's outdoor spaces offer different ways to enjoy it.



On warmer days, the 8-foot cowboy tub provides a refreshing place to cool off, with nearby loungers for relaxing between dips. The cowboy tub is not an in-ground pool and is drained and unavailable from November through March. The six-person hot tub is a favorite gathering spot throughout the year, particularly once the desert air cools in the evening.



For a little friendly competition, break out the horseshoes, giant Jenga, or cornhole. The patio also has a propane BBQ and outdoor dining for six, making it easy to prepare dinner and enjoy it outside. Afterward, gather in the Adirondack chairs around the propane fire pit.



But the property's signature experience is just up the hill. A short walk leads to two lookout benches positioned above the house, where you can watch the afternoon light move across Pipes Canyon and the surrounding mountains. It's a beautiful spot to bring a drink, sit for a while, and watch the sunset. After dark, the area's clear skies make stepping outside for stargazing an equally appealing way to end the evening.

The living room is comfortable and unfussy, with black leather sofas and an 80-inch Samsung smart TV equipped with streaming apps. It's a great place to wind down after hiking, settle in for a movie, or spend an easy afternoon indoors when the desert temperatures rise.



Books, board games, and a Bluetooth speaker offer alternatives to screen time. Because the living room opens directly into the kitchen and dining area, everyone can stay connected whether they're preparing dinner, playing a game, or relaxing on the couch.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has a clean, modern look with white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, dark countertops, and a distinctive blue hexagonal tile backsplash. A large island with wooden stools provides extra preparation space and a casual spot to sit while someone cooks.



You'll find a gas stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, and kettle, along with cookware, utensils, spices, and olive oil. The drip coffee maker comes with coffee, sugar, creamer, and a selection of teas, so mornings can begin at home before heading out.



A substantial wooden dining table sits just beyond the kitchen, giving everyone a place to share meals, play cards, or plan the day's adventures. When the weather is inviting, take dinner outside to the patio table for six and enjoy the changing light across the desert.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Pipes Canyon Lookout has three bedrooms, three beds, and two bathrooms, comfortably accommodating up to six guests. The bedrooms feature simple, inviting furnishings with warm wood details, comfortable bedding, and individual touches of color.



One bedroom features a rustic wooden bed frame and sliding glass doors that open directly outside, making it particularly enjoyable for guests who like to start their mornings with a little fresh air. Another has a sleek metal-frame bed, crisp white bedding, and bright red accent pillows, with windows overlooking the surrounding Joshua trees.



The two bathrooms offer convenient arrangements for a group. One features a vessel sink beneath a round mirror and a marble shower, while the other includes a double vanity that makes getting ready together easier.



A stacked washer and dryer are also available, a useful convenience for longer stays or refreshing clothes after a dusty day exploring Joshua Tree.
