Beautiful log cabin w/ private dock, gameroom, 23mi to beach, 3bd2ba, sleeps 11
Make amazing memories at the Big Dipper Lodge! A remote log cabin, yet close to it all. Enjoy fishing & kayaking from the private dock! Swim at Pitt, Sylvan, & Wilford Springs (9mi), or drive to white sandy beaches with crystal clear blue water. Stroll through historic St. Andrew's Bay (10mi) or the Panama City Beach Boardwalk (24mi) & enjoy local cafes and restaurants. Explore caves at the Florida Caverns (47mi), or stay home & enjoy the game room & stargaze at night to spot the Big Dipper!
This 3-bed/2-bath cabin was recently remodeled and includes all new stainless steel appliances with new wood throughout. Enjoy the natural beauty of cedar tongue and grove ceilings and walls, making this a truly spectacular experience. Rough-cut tongue and grove Cypress and Pecky Cypress can be found throughout. The Pecky Cypress was originally pulled from nearby Bear Creek. Beautifully finished vinyl plank flooring on the main level, and hardwood floors upstairs.
NOTICE: The water level at Bear Creek is dependent on Deer Point Lake's winter draw-down. To control invasive vegetation in the water, Bay County begins draw-down of Deer Point Lake for the winter sometime in October and begins raising the water level in March. The photos you see were taken in April with water at normal levels. After Bay County does a draw-back, I will post a few pictures to show winter water levels. The dock outside the cabin still has water access for small boats and kayaks, it will just be shallower and the scenery changes due to lower water levels.

The cabin is beautiful and the location is perfect for stargazing. If you are not a heavy sleeper and value your privacy, this may not be the best choice for you due to the open layout in the loft. Overall, we had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay.

A pretty home but not what we expected
Creepy neighbors rode by in a golf cart and were staring at us when we arrived and began to unload. Ring doorbell out front so you're aware you're being watched. Found out after booking that home is pet tolerant but not friendly, keep pets off furniture, out of bedrooms and pick up their poop or you will get fined. Master bedroom is nice, beds are very comfortable but you can hear every time someone goes up or downstairs because they all creak, and you hear every toilet flush and all conversations, plus the AC. TV only in the living room. Grass was in need of cutting so we stepped in unseen low spots often, especially a deeper one in the front. The area by the dock was very grassy and had so many lilly pads you could not launch a boat, but if you did want to you would have to drag it across the yard because you cannot park or drive in the grass out back. Not handicap friendly except for the ramp to the front door. Downstairs game room is cool. Lots of blankets and throw pillows if you like to get comfy on the floor. Nice that there was some coffee and seasonings and stuff, including dog biscuits if you bring dogs. We were not comfortable because we worried about fines if someone forgot any dishes or made a mess. Extra fees by the way if you bring pets OR KIDS. We went for a family fishing trip but couldn't even fish from the dock because the water vegetation was way thicker than the pictures. Recommend for adults only with no pets who only want to enjoy a swampy river view
The property is located near the places we wanted to go fishing. Overall it was nice, the upstairs bathroom is so small it's almost unusable, other than that we had a good time.
Great place to relax. Dont expect to fish. Unless you’re a pro at getting around the lily pads or plan on going out on the kayak. But the view and relaxing vibes were awesome. The beds were nice. A nice mattress is more important to me than a recliner. So it was good to sleep in a good bed. Good overall place..
Cool cabin & great hideaway from the busyness of Panama City!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Big Dipper Lodge... From the beautiful view, to the game room, to the country quiet, and the closeness of the city. It's such a cool cabin. Yes, everything is open (lofts) & noise travels, but when little ones went to bed early, we enjoyed the nighttime sounds of nature on the back porch or around the fire pit with good conversation. It forced us to slow down and be present...
It's a great location to escape the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to explore the tourist hotpots of Panama City if you desire.
We spent our mornings fishing off the dock (caught some delicious bass), and we had fun exploring the area. Found some great local eateries, too.
Yana was great to work with; super quick to respond and everything was clear and easy with check in & out. We're already talking about our next trip!
