Two things that matter most to me when staying in a motel: Hot water for showering and a safe area. This place had both. The bed was okay:It had a flimsy feel to it when you first sit on it,but it actually slept quite nicely. The pillows were excellent. One nitpicky thing is the decorative metal sculpture above the beds are a bit low so if you sit on the bed against with back to the wall, your only option is for your head to rest on it. The room was a bit grubby. It was clean in the visible places, but there were maintenance issues that could use a bit of love. The blinds were layered with dust. The bathroom fan was so thick with dust, you could knit mittens with it. There is a lovely skylight in the room, but looking up at it beholds the sight of webs, dead bugs and spiders. The floors had some crunchies you'd walk on in the less visible spaces such as the side of the bed. Lots of roly poly bugs in the bathroom, but to be fair this seems to be an issue in other beach homes we've stayed in. Problem is, lots of bugs attracts spiders of which we killed a few crawling on us. They provided enough coffee pods for 3 people for the entire weekend. We stayed in the Tidewater and it was on the end near the guest laundry room and felt more private. We were right next to a FANTASTIC restaurant called “The Drift Inn”. The food was amazing and had enough variety to serve a diversity of palates. The room is reasonable price for high season, short notice booking on the coast of Oregon.
